Can I make a suggestion that EMC 8 programs are enhanced to include a play menu item and keyboard short cut keys added to some of the menu items so that multimedia controllers can be used with the software.
The best way to explain this is to use Windows Movie Maker (WMM) as an example. It has a “Play” menu item with a variety of commands that have short cut keys associated with them (i.e. Next Frame Alt+Right Arrow). The advantage of these items is that power users get to learn the short cuts and can get things done much quicker by using the short cut keys they have remembered.
The big bonus however comes with multimedia controller devices like the Contour ShuttlePro2 that I use (http://www.contourdesign.com/shuttlepro). It has a number of fantastic programmable controls that make video editing a breeze. The controller can be programmed to associate any of the button buttons and the Jog/Shuttle controls with any program’s short cut keys.
Because programs like WMM are programmed with short cut keys it was easy for me to assign the right commands to the controller to shuttle backwards and forwards and edit a video clip. Awesome!!!
Now if we can do that in EMC 8 that would be fantastic.
If anybody else out there thinks this is a good idea, either simply to be able to use keyboard short cut or the broader ability to easily add programmable devices, then please add yourselves to this thread so that we can attempt to get noticed by the Roxio guys.
