Videowave Won't Let Me Import A Recorded Divx File

SquishyMuffin

Question

I recorded a clip on xbox in DivX instead of AVI as now I don't think the huge file AVI creates is worth it anymore. However, now when I import the video into videowave (software that comes with it) it wont let me! A message pops up stating "the file you are trying to use cannot be edited, and has not been edited." I can import the same file into windows movie maker but not videowave!

It probably has something to do with the fact I installed a patch for it. If someone knows how to unistall the patch or have any other suggestions I'd be grateful.

I would also try to unistall it all completely but I don't have the disc to re-install (Unless you don't need the disc???)

Thanks.

What did you do with the install disc -- no back-up? Can you do a system restore to before when you were having a problem? Roxio will not give you a new disc to install because there are unscrupulous people out there who would take advantage of the offer.

AVI apparently is worth it because it runs while DivX doesn't for you. You computer may not be able to convert the captured video to DivX on the fly. What computer and computers specs do you have? What operating system?

Its at home somewhere but I'm at university. I do AVI from now on but I never tried Divx before or after the patch download so I'll never know what the problem is.

I don't think my laptop is at fault but here are specs:

ACER ASPIRE 5740

Processor: i3 intel core M330 @2.13ghz 2.13ghz

3GB Ram

64bit

320gb

SCORE

6.2 - Processor

5.5 - Ram

3.9 - Graphics

5.2 - Gaming graphics

5.4 - HDD

Try updating the drivers for your video device. Go to the Acer site first to see if they have an approved one. Looks like there hasn't been one for more than 2 years. I can't tell what you have for a video chip; ACer doesn't list ti and there are two possibilities.
