Upgrade Installation Question

extech01

Question

I have roxio creator starter oem edition from my purchase of a dell desktop. I purchased what I think is the full version from the upgrade page on Roxio. I downloaded two files

1) Roxio Creator 2012 JX90AXD0R13- 1,559,143 KB

2) rOXIO 2012 CONTENT JX09AXD05QA 1,566,847KB

Are these the full packaged product? Should I uninstall Roxio Creator Starter before installing them or install them over it? What do I install first, Creator (I assume) then Content?

Also does full version creator support ac3 audio, which starter did not?

Thanks in advance,

I would burn the 2 Roxio Downloads to disc, carefully print the CD Key and store them away.

The "Starter" is based loosly on Creator 2010... (Version 12.1.0.xxx) :glare:

I would FIRST make sure I have the OEM Disc for it or can download it from the manufacture...

THEN I would uninstall it from the Control Panel - Programs and Features.

Reboot and run the 2 files in the order you listed ;)

The first file, Roxio Creator 2012 is the entire program.

The second file Roxio 2012 Content are the extra programs that come with it.

Jim,

Thank you. How do I "carefully print the CD key"? Where is that, what is that, and how does that compare to the password that Roxio sent me on my order confirmation. What do I need that password for?

Also, do I really need "starter edition" once I have Creator 2012 installed and deleted it.

One other thing is on the starter edition, when I tried burning an encoded divx file it gave me an error saying it contained ac3 audio and refer to upgrade to handle such files. Will 2012 Creator handle these.

Thank You

Sorry I should have told you that YES, the Suites do recognize AC3 Audio!!! DivX too!

"Carefully Print"??? Just what it says  - if your penmanship looks like a Doctors Prescription, get your wife to write it down for you! (I usually print it on a small label and attach that to a CD/DVD Sleeve that the disc is in ;) )

You would have received an Email containing the 17 character "Product Key" in the format of XX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX...

You MUST have this to install :o Check you email and look in your Spam Folder, sometimes it lands there.

Jim,

I had to laugh, thank you I needed it. I do write like a doctor. I did see that product key, and have it written down.

I'm ready to install, thank you very much for your timely responses.
