Wideowave Upload To Youtube

Steve777

Question

Hi,

Posting for my son here. He has Creator 2012 Pro. He prepares videos of paintball matches and uploads them to youtube. He recently got a HD camera and was very excited to upload 1080p videos instead of his previous 480p limitations. He had some trouble origially creating a 1080p production until we found out from other forum memebers that the production had to be a widesreen 16:9 production. After figuring out that issue he is now able to produce a 1080p video and upload it to youtube, however once the video is uploaded, the special effects (fire and fireworks) are distorted. The flames are much smaller and only bits and pieces of the fireworks play on the youtube video.

Can you guys help?

Thanks!!

Steve

I need to make a correction here. I had reported that the problem with the special effects only occurred after uploading to youtube and that the video file my son had created (mpg file) via export as a video file was fine.

In fact, the exported video file was not fine and had altered special effects just like the direct upload to youtube.

I figured this out by creating my own short video in videowave (16:9), adding the same special effects and exporting this time as a WMV file (Windows Media Video 9, 1920x1080 VBR), since the WMV was a preferred youtube file. The rendered file had altered special effects so I went back and looked at my son's mpg file and discovered the same was true.

So it appears that all attempts to create a high definition video file have resulted in special effects problems.

Hopefully this will help diagnose the problem?

Thanks!

Thanks! We did try the MPEG format at 1080p. The HD options, at least those considered preferred by youtube, are somewhat limited. Hopefully you'll have better luck.....

Steve, I have duplicated what you are seeing using the steps that you outlined above. Very good tutorial by the way.

The problem only seems to occur when you output to any HD format and you use one of the DigiEffects (actually I have not tried all the DigiEffects so perhaps some work). If you output to non-HD video, everything looks good. It looks like the DigiEffects do not get converted to the chosen HD resolution, at least not in the vertical resolution.

Also the problems only seems to occur when using the DigiEffects. With the standard Roxio effects there is no problem in HD

I'll try it that way as soon as I can.

I would try a different output format!!! Something You Tube accepts but NOT WMM!

Yes a screen cap or two would really help us (pretty thick headed at times  )

Here is a post describing how to post screen caps, HERE.

OK guys, I'll give this a shot. My son did the work but he showed me the process.

He collected the video clips with his new HD Camcorder, a KUZO VCC-008-SE Full 1080p HD Camcorder. The camcorder took the clips as AVI files. When my son tried to work with these in Videowave, the clips would play for about 3 seconds and then freeze. I suggested he convert the clips to another file type so he converted them to WMV files using Roxio Copy and Convert program and then they worked great.

Here is some info on the original AVI file, in case it's of any importance.

post-96939-091089600 1326907312.jpg

Here is a screen shot of the Copy and Convert Video window where he converted his AVI files to HD 1080 WMV files. Other than selecting the WMV HD 1080 type, he used defaults for the rest of the settings as shown.

post-96939-079985900 1326907756.jpg

Here is a copy of the conversion in progress.

post-96939-033284500 1326908044.jpg

He then opens Roxio Video Wave (2012 Pro), selects Create New Production with a Format - Widescreen 16:9. He leaves the other Production Settings as default setting (e.g., he doesn't change them). See screen shot.

post-96939-009363700 1326908719.jpg

He then selects add photo/video and hits OK (in this case I selected the WMV file I converted previously named Clip0010_1). See screeshot.

post-96939-056546500 1326909000.jpg

Then he added a couple of intro word slides with the special effects. I'm not sure how to do that so I'm just adding a couple of special effects to the video clip since I know the special effects will be altered as they were before.

So I first Add Video Effect "Burn From Left" (see screen shot).

post-96939-014292100 1326909548.jpg

Then select Add To Production. See screen shot.

post-96939-023568600 1326909681.jpg

Then I add video effect Fireworks Windy Night and select add to production. See screen shot.

post-96939-012473000 1326909901.jpg

At that point I save the production as Test 1 and hit play and the video effects display as intended. See screen shot.

post-96939-043452900 1326910186.jpg

I then go up and select Output and choose export as a Video File and choose Windows Media Video 9, 1920x1080 VBR. I don't change any of the other default settings in the window. See Screen shot.

post-96939-014411000 1326910604.jpg

I then select Create Video File and it opens and starts Rendering. See screen shot.

post-96939-020944400 1326910785.jpg

Takes about 3 minutes for the short production to render. WMV File siz is 221 MB (original imported WMV clip was 121,772 KB which I believe is about 122 MB). See screen shot of file properties.

post-96939-083518500 1326911639.jpg

The I play the created file. All looks good except for video effects. Fire stays very low in bottom left corner and doesn't shoot up through frame and fireworks are just some scattered white flecks along the bottom of the frame. See attached creen shot.

post-96939-023258000 1326912053.jpg

OK, That's it. I'm sure I over did it but hopefully it's enough to find the problem.

I have to go take a nap now (LOL, I wish!)

Thanks!

Perhaps you could list step-by-step what you are doing (effects used, settings etc), we can try and duplicate and see if we get the same problem.

What video did create to make your short test?

Thanks! We'll give a try and report back....

Just took a quick look on youtube and found this info via the help section:

"Here is a list of some well-known formats that YouTube supports:

•WebM files - Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codecs

•.MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files - Typically supporting h264, mpeg4 video codecs, and AAC audio codec

•.AVI - Many cameras output this format - typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM

•.MPEGPS - Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio

•.WMV

•.FLV - Adobe-FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio"

I'll have my son export his file as a high resolution MPEG4, MOV or WMV file and then try to upload this to youtube. It looks mpeg2 may be supported as well but the heading of MPEGPS is greek to me.

If it works, it may mean it's best not to use the youtube uploader in videowave if you are using special effects. Remember that he also uploaded directly from his videowave production and not a video file and got the same results.

More to come....

Don't upload mpg2 files because You Tube does convert them to one of their standard formats (mp4? ). Go to YouTube, find out the best format for you encode to that format and then use the YouTube uploader. Yes, I have uploaded HD files to you tube but I don't remember if I has any special effects. I thnk so.

If ou use of of their standard, preferred formats, they will not re-encode. Make sure you are complying with the YouTube restrictions for both time and file size.

Thanks! We'll give a try and report back....

Thanks Jim!

You definitely got it right. What he sees on his youtube version is the altered special effects (small fire columns and a few bits and pieces of the fireworks display). As I said, the special effects look great in his videowave production and even the mpeg file he created via export to a video file.

I think I mentioned that he also uploaded the mpeg file to youtube with the same effect. I know that youtube doesn't give you upload options like HD or level of resolution - you basically just do a straight upload.

I assume youtube also renders the file after upload and this could be creating the problems. The question may be whether the problem lies with youtube rendering or whether videowave special effects are not compatible with youtube?

My son is using 2012 Creator Pro. Has anyone else created a HD 1080p 16:9 production with special effects from 2012 Pro and uploaded to Youtube with similar or different results?

Thanks!!!

Steve

OK... this is what you are seeing:

post-39730-032925800 1326800036.jpg

I tried to duplicate it (close ~ no cigar) and it looks like this:

post-39730-095186000 1326800041.jpg

I output it to a small file without any problem but I don't have a YouTube account, so I cannot test it completely :(

You can see my VideoWave structure in my screen caps. You may want to have him compare his project and try to create a new, short one, and upload it to see how it works...

Of course anyone else with any good ideas is welcome to jump right in here

Hi Steve - I cannot imagine playing Paint Ball ~ I would be little more than a self-propelled canvas

Haven't done any You Tube postings but I can see some questions you will need to answer...

Is all of this being done in VideoWave and with a 16:9 project? (probably since you had already noted that ;) )

Are all effects giving trouble or just some?

What are the names of those that are troublesome?

Do you have any links to these Videos so we can take a peek?

Thanks! I played paintball once and that was enough :)

Yes - production is done in videowave at 16:9. In addition to uploading directly to youtube from videowave, he has converted the production to a High Definition MPEG-2 1088p video file and uploaded to youtube from his hardrive. Both methods result in the same alteration of the special effects.

He has only three effects added:

1-Fire - burn from left

2-Fire - burn from right (these first two are on the same slide)

3-Fireworks - windy night

Here is the web address of the video. The special effects are on just the first couple of scenes. I have never added a link so I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do it or not:

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated by me and my son.

Thanks!!!!

Steve
