Poor Video Quality On Discs

KLynch

Question

Hello, I just purchased a New IMac with OSX Lion and just purchased Toast 11. I have been using Toast 7 and previous versions on older Macs and have never had a problem. I am attempting to make DVD Videos and when I make them, which are typically sports, the quality is really bad and the action strobes. Never had this problem on the older versions. I am using .mov and set it toast to best quality. Thanks, and help would be great, I have a lot of DVDs to get out to people!

I'm surprised that it is different from Toast 7. Click the Customize... button and click Encoding and then Custom in the window that appears. Check the Half-Pel box as that improves quality in action scenes. I don't know how long the video is but move the Average bit rate to 6.5 and the maximum to 8.0. If you choose Save as Disc Image and the video is too big for a single-layer disc you can use Toast's Fit-to-DVD feature when using the Image File setting in the Copy window to burn the DVD. That gets slightly better quality than using a lower bit rate to fit the video to the DVD in the first place.

What are the specs for the source video?
