can someone please report how good is the quality of the capture result when using the USB capture device for 2012, particularly when captured from a VHS/vcr. Normally the quality leaves much to be desired when from other capture devices easycap comes to mind ?

The quality will be as good as the source. The program will not make the tape any better.
