Can someone tell me how to play a movie from my VHS recorder/player to my PC and then either store it on my Hard Drive or copy it to a DVD+R using Creator 2011.

Bob

Do you have the VHS-to-DVD capture device? You will need it or something similar to capture the video from the VHS player.

cdanteek - HMMM! - I do have the USB device you recommend to connect my VHS player to the PC - I have had some limited success with copying my VHS movies, but it is sporadic at best; however, the screen you present does not look like the one I see on my screen using Creator 2011 Special Edition.

Thinking there must be an update, I tried to update my Creator 2011 Special Edition, but the response from the Roxio web site tries to sell me the Creator 2012 and I do not see any update data. I wouldn't mind buying the 2012 unit, but I am unable to find in the 2012 offer if it will allow me to copy a VHS tape (which I own and am trying to copy for my own use totally) from my VHS player to the PC. Can you advise if this be the case?

Did it install Easy VHS to DVD? Look in start all programs?

Yes - that is exactly what I bought. Thus far, I have been able to play my VHS recorded tapes through the 'Roxio Easy VHS to DVD' program with some success. Lots of times, the recording seems to be OK but gets to the end of a tape and I get a 'can not record to DVD' or some similar phrase. At that point, I throw the DVD disc away since it has shown a 'DISC Error' when trying to play the DVD. I also get a 'lost video signal' sometimes and I throw out the DVD+R since it is useless. Seems to be a sporadic ability to copy the VHS to DVD at best. I also seem to have lost my installation disc, so I can not re-install the 2011.

I bought the Creator 2012 in the meantime and will await its arrival before trying more copying.

I appreciate your help.

I am afraid that you will have the same problems with C2012.

You should be first capturing to your hard drive and then burning the captured files to DVD. You will not have so many coasters that way. More then likely you will still get the "lost signal" with C2012 since that may be a problem with gaps on your tapes.

I DL the Guide and am trying to grasp the instructions. Unfortunately, the instructions at page 8 through 10 under 'Create a DVD' do not match the screen(s) I see it I open Easy VHS to DVD program. 'plug and burn ', 'USB 2861 Device' and the 'Capture Now' items are not seen. So - absent a Program disc for the 2011 program, I hope to see some progress when I get the 2012 program.

Many thanks for your assistance. I may return for some further advice if you don't mind.

Does your opening screen match the pic I posted in post #8??

If so re-read post # 8!

My screen does look similar to that posted above; however, in lieu of the ...'VHS...' mine shows '...C13...'.

Do we have a communication problem?

What does that mean?

If it's important post a screen shot?

Do you understand don't use Plug and Burn?

Use Record Edit and Save?

Thanks for your patience - with your instructions and installation of Creator 2012, I finally got educated enough to allow copying from VHS to DVD. I made a couple of DVD's, played them back on my DVD player and they worked.

With your help, I also learned about the Windows 7 'Snipping Tool' which I had not known before. That alone will help me in future needs.

Again this 79-year old thanks thanks you for all your help.

Bob
