Roxio Creator 2012 Pro Install Fails During Backontrack

I have been experiencing a continual problem attempting to install Creator 2012 Pro with all of the applications working properly - for months actually. I have had an open web ticket continously since November. Everyone has tried to be helpful, but no one has gotten to the root of the problem which seems to be that during the Creator 2012 Pro install process something in my system is causing the installation of Roxio Backontrack to fail and then cause everything to roll back. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have followed all of the recommended guidelines and procedures including removing all traces of previous installations from the hard drive and registry, ensuring Windows is up to date including all drivers, disabling startups, antivirus, firewall, UAC, internet, then attempted to install it from my hard drive (copied the installation disc) running setup.exe as administrator. Each and every time it rolls back during Backontrack - it installs Roxio System Rollback then it rolls everything back, beginning with Roxio Secure Burn which seems to always be the last application to successfully install. Attached are the log files from my latest installation attempt today, and my dxdiag log file is also attached.

 

FYI, I have previously managed to successfuly install Creator 2012 Pro using the special command line "end around" of 'setup.exe DisableProducts=BACKONTRACK_39,BACKONTRACK_A64_39,BOT_PE_39,BOTAPP_PE_4X,BOTPRODUCT_4X,BOTPRODUCT_A64_4X Mandatory-0' (which I found searching this forum) however the installation is always flawed. For example, Music Creator will not recognize any audio files, including wav, flac, or mp3. I have tried installing the latest audio codecs, to no avail. Also, Video Copy and Convert freezes when attempting to copy a dvd folder from my hard drive to a disc image at another hard drive location. Another issue, the Creator 2012 Pro windows installer continuously pops up everytime the desktop icon is clicked. I have tried several fixes, but nothing has worked. The same thing happens when some, but not all,of the applications within the main program screen are opened.

 

The latest suggestion from the web ticket was to uninstall it once again and then reinstall it using all of the procedures described above. Once again, attempting to install Creator 2012 Pro in its entirety has failed.

I noticed that I incorrectly stated "Mandatory-0" in my original post instead of "Mandatory=0". I did use the correct syntax during the installation process. Please forgive.

OK, I have analyzed the latest install files myself, and it is clear that the installation

always fails during BACKONTRACK_A64_39. I have also experienced some install

fails when it attempts to install net framework 3.5, which is not necessary because I

have Windows 7 and nf 3.5 is already installed. Therefore I ran the installation of

Roxio Creator 2012 Pro using the special command line of "setup.exe

DisableProducts=DOTNETFX_351,BACKONTRACK_A64_39 Mandatory=0".

 

The installation successfully completed. Almost everything works correctly, with the

exception of the following two issues: 1) the Roxio Creator 2012 installer continues to

pop up whenever I run the main Roxio Creator 2012 Pro program, however I can run

individual modules such as Label Creator from the start menu applications folder

without the installer popping up (it runs only when I click on "Roxio Creator 2012 Pro";

2) when I attempt to create an audio CD using Music Disc Creator, the Media Selector

does not recognize any audio files including mp3, wav, or flac.

 

Curiously, Roxio Creator Classic DOES recognize all files including all audio files,

however it cannot be used to create an audio CD. My computer has the latest audio

codecs and there should be no problem. Please be aware it is ONLY the Roxio Media

Selector within Music Disc Creator that has this issue. I believe the program installed

perfectly, but there is something blocking Roxio Media Selector from seeing the audio

files, perhaps some obscure registry setting which another program might be over-

riding.

 

I do not wish to uninstall the entire Roxio Creator 2012 Pro program, I don't think there

is a problem per se with the installation. I believe Music Disc Creator actually installed

perfectly. Something else is affecting the Media Selector and inhibitting it (maybe

Cyberlink doesn't want me to use Roxio for creating audio music discs??) FYI, I

already tried removing Cyberlink to see if it fixed the issue, however it does not.

If necessary, I will just live with these issues and use a different program other than

Roxio Music Disc Creator to create my audio CDs.

Have you considered running a repair?

Thanks, yeah you're right, no way has it installed correctly, at least not completely. I haven't done run repair on this installation yet.

 

I will follow the preparation instructions, run a repair install, and will report back with the results.

Just finished the repair install and tried Music Creator. No change. Media Selector still does not see any audio files, although it does manage to see jpg files.

Same thing with the Media Selector in Roxio Sound Editor - it does not see any audio files either.
