Hi guys,

I'm making an FPS kill montage and want to have a little counter on screen to keep a tally of the kills.

Short of adding 100 text effect boxes is there an easy way to do this?

Any replies much appreciated.

Cheers,

Pappa.

I don't know how?

Your asking for something that would have to be engineered into the game aren't you?

How could a capture device and video editing software do what your asking?

No this is not an in game feature. It would be software driven and I assume it would be a manual process of going throught the video frame by frame and manually ticking the counter over after each kill.

I've seen it done in videos before and just wanted to know if there was an easier way than putting in count;less text boxes - One for each kill.

The only way to add a counter to the captured video is using a video editor and add the "count" manually. You of course do not have to go through frame-by-frame to add the text. That is not how editors work. I don't know how many "kills" you want to add but lets say you have a count that goes to 50 then there would be 50 text boxes required. To me that is not a countless nunber.

There is no software that can do that anywhere... would be hard for something to be programmed to recognise a kill in a game and count it beyond the editing process. Its not that hard to add kill counter manually.

All you need to do it set up a text box, then copy and paste it along the text effects time line, change the number when you get a kill, wash rinse repeat. Yes, it will take some time, but if you want a good video you have to put the effort into the post production.

I didnt even think about copying and pasting the text box (Duh!!). Thats exactly what I need to do. I'm looking to clock around 100 kills and realize it will take time but with copying the text box the time will be cut down considerably.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm lookng to count 100 kills. True its not a countless number but having to replicate anything in a video 100 times is a big job! What I was hoping for was a way to easily duplicate the counter at the various kill times and change to the next number.

Appreciate your input - Thanks.

To name one, Duck Hut counted the Ducks one shot!
