Follow the Prep Steps to the letter!

Then start to Install the Program, only choose Repair when it is offered.

That should put it to the way it is supposed to be

I cannot do Windows Update on my Computer. Windows asks for ActiveX installation. But I cannot find the download where they say it is, so ...

I would not worry about that too much. The main thing is to have your AV and Startup items turned off so that nothing in them interfers with the Install/Repair ;)

I am assuming your XP is running the needed SP's (SP3 if 64 bit OR SP2 if 32 bit)...

While we are looking at this, did it work before and then fail? :glare:

Okay, I started by getting rid of Creator 8 which has tortured me for recent years. Then I proceeded to follow all of the directions as close as possible to get to Windows update. I managed to find the Active X add on. I updated things like Direct X. Windows proceeded to install 6 critical updates such as SP2 patches, etc. I ran troubleshooting on Windows audio player and media player. I found that the audio player had been muted.

I then proceeded to disable all startup programs with msconfig as directed. Starting and restarting my computer numerous times. On my final effort I can say that I achieved a clean install of Creator 2012 using the repair Wizard. I then enabled all of these startup programs. This business about "Log on as Administrator" comes up often. I just don't know how to do that.

Anyway, after hours of this I am fully confident that everything has been done right just as I have been instructed and that everything on my computer has been fixed perhaps more than ever before. And I feel sure that the Creator 2012 is now installed as cleanly as possible. And I fully expect it to work like it is supposed to. I expect to be able to create my own video production complete with background audio or any other services that this product offers. I realize that the product will have glitches just as every single digital thing I have ever owned in my entire life but I understand that and I tell myself that I will work through them as always. And I must admit this to myself, with much trepidation whether this insipid existence within the digital world will remain the same for me for all the rest of the days of my life! I find myself unable to properly phrase (sans expletives), what I really think about the quality level of digital products in this day and age.

So, I fire up Videowave and open my video that I have worked so hard on and click the "Add Background Audio" link, fully expecting after all of these long hours that I will be finally rewarded with a window that opens up showing the selection of background audio that I have available to me. You can imagine my amazement when instead, the big error box immediately pops up in my face stating Runtime Error - pure virtual function call. But then again, was I REALLY expecting anything any different? It says, "R 6025." And then it says, "video wave 13.exe application error." I Google the R 6025 and I see that it indicates a programming error or corrupted software. To me this would seem to indicate that there is something wrong with this product. This then prompts me to ask, just what in the hell happened and what is the warranty on this product anyway?

So then I find myself wondering or perhaps wishing or praying for some divine help from some Wizard or any kind of indication from this mysterious World Wide Web. Then, I can't help but wonder why, after I perform the repairs on Creator 2012, I could not see a box appear showing me what if any repairs were accomplished by my work. I wonder if that is too much to ask. But again for the thousandth time I find myself admitting that I'm nothing more than a mere member of the mass minions of the digital dark ages. And that there is indeed nothing that I can do on my own to help my miserable self. Again, it seems all I can do is cry out to the vast Web pleading to the powers that be who minister to the masses by doing their magic behind the scenes, to please help my poor wretched soul before I go completely insane or postal or something!

So all of that distills to 'Tried what you asked. Followed the instructions. Still get the Error'...

The efforts you went through are troubleshooting steps and someone had to do them

The "6502" error is pretty generic... I see it listed for Printers, ORACLE, etc...

At this point I think your best bet is to CALL Roxio and talk to Customer Service. (877-793-7471 normal business hours, Mon Fri, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST)

Tell them, briefly, the error, what you have done and that you followed the suggestions of one of the Guru's on the Forums.

ASK them if they can set you up with a Download (if that is acceptable to you) of the Suite... Make sure they give you a Product Key for it!

The install for that should only require turning off your AV & Startup Items, followed by Repair.

Don't give up on this! Keep us posted here on your progress ;)

At this point it is hard for me to know where to start or where to end. Many more hours have ensued, most of them spent working on my computer to make it run better. I did call tech support and they ran me through a number of tests some which were familiar with no results just the same old error box staring in my face each time I tried. I defragged the computer several times. I cleaned the hard drive. I uploaded active X programs, clean the hard drive. I researched a bunch of the cleanup programs and there always seem to be a problem with every one of them. I ended up in my registry cleaning it myself with the help of online sites that define what many of the files are so that I can decide which ones to get rid of. I wound up with a upload Java box that comes up every time I logon. I followed up with some more online Roxio help dealing with tuning my computer to optimize video editing on my machine. And somewhere in the middle of all of that my computer evidently became happy with Roxio and proceeded to work properly with the background audio.

By the way I should mention that also during that period it decided to work once for me and downloaded all of that Triple Scoop music one time when I hit the background audio button before it proceeded to stop working again. I saw a question about that on this forum. At any rate it proceeded to work and kept working and it's working now. Cross my fingers. So, happy ending right? Not... I go ahead and render a real nice fishing show video with nice simple background instrumental music from triple scoop and publish it to YouTube and submitted to be monetized. I make the mistake of mentioning the background music which immediately sicced the YouTube Nazis upon me. What a disgusting degrading and insulting experience that has turned into. So after all of this – no happy ending here and that leads me to another posting I have already made which it appears that you have answered as well. Although I am so upset and so tired of communicating with YouTube and posting in forums, I suppose I should move on over to that post and follow-up on it although it seems that no one else in the whole world is sharing this problem with me. Something I find amazing.

You can post that and let your YouTube zealots read it for themselves

Other than that, you are running OK now?

Oh - now I noticed you are running a seprate Topic about this HERE...

THAT would be the place to post comments/suggestions about the YouTube issue ;)

Thanks: Have been in contact with Triple Scoop and the final verdict is - I cannot use the Audio for "Monetized" vids. Because of the revenue from the ads - even though it is very little revenue. Rights must be purchased for this. As far as YouTube - Hah! that is basically down the tubes. Hundreds of YouTube partners are mad at them on the forums for what is going on
