Any Fix For Roxio Game Cap's Terrible Video Passthrough

djskip316i

Question

As the title says , when my roxio game cap is connected the picture quality on my TV is terrible and unplayable in 720p . 1080i is not as bad but not as clear as it should be .

This is my 3rd Game cap , 1st one was faulty , 2nd one was returned due to to the poor passthrough to my tv and now on my 3rd game cap which has the exact same poor passthrough which makes me think it is the same case with all roxio game cap's .

The picture Quality when my PS3 is directly connected to my TV via component cable is perfect .

I Have tried 3 different TV's and its the same problem with all of the TV's , so my tv cannot be the problem .

To rectify the problem i tried bypassing the Roxio by buying Y splitters , so I connected the Y splitters to my ps3 component cable and from there had one component cable going to my tv and another component cable going to my roxio , But as soon as I connect the Y(GREEN)Cable to the roxio I get very bad ghosting on the TV .

Does anyone here have any idea how to fix this problem , I have already contacted tech support who suggested to return my roxio game cap , but i have had the exact same problem on all 3 game Cap's .

I thought the device was a good buy, I have tried everything and like a said I said when I pass through the Roxio my picture is blurry I would be more than happy to listen to any suggestions you have.

Not until you start reading replies and supplying more information. I did not say anything about the cost of the product but did ask for some technical information. Did you know that the blue text and the word - link_ takes you to the questions to be answered? Please don't force us into believing that you can't read and are a child.

I know, it is someone else's fault ; not you or your computer.

I have same problem, if I connect my xbox 360 to my tv withe the microsoft component cables my picture is perfect on all settings but when I connect it all through the roxio the picture is rubbish, is there a fix for this? It has great software but the device is not worth the money I started with an ezcap and the quality is better.

It looks like most of the other people have been able to solve their problem from a quick read. Did you try any of the fixes that were described?

Please start you own thread and provide this information. (link).

If you used easycap, and it worked properly, why did you buy this product?

Hi, I just got mine today in the mail. I'm experiencing the same problem but on Xbox (Jasper model from 2007). I'm certain its not the cables. My TV only displays up to 720p natively. So obviously that's what my Xbox is set at. However i'ts quite blurry. Set at 1080i i'ts clearer but still off. My Hardware model is HU348-E Ver 1.1

Having some other issues but I'll check around before i make my own thread about them. I just thought id share i'm having a similar issue. ;)

Ok so after looking into this further i noticed than when the Y(Green) cable (going from my roxio to tv) is unplugged from the roxio slightly , with just the centre pin touching the roxio , the blurryness dissappears on my tv .

Is the roxio component cable faulty , as my PS3 component cable works perfectly connected directly to my TV .

Battlefield 3 - 720p = Very blurry

Battlefield bad company 2 - 720p = Very blurry

Call of duty 4 , world at war , MW2 , Black ops , MW3 - 1080i = blurry , but not as bad as 720p .

A youtube video would be useless as my capture video is fine . I will post some pics of my tv when i get home in 30mins .

Thanks, I pass this info along...

Thanks for the suggestion but im on my 3rd set of ps3 component cables (the official Sony ones) and that didnt fix the problem. But after reading a few reviews a lot of people are expieriencing the same problem .

I have passed you post to our engineers for review to see if we're missing anything.

In the mean time, since I don't know what trouble shooting options you have been suggested, we'll start with the basics. Here's a copy and paste from one of our articles:

You are most likely trying to capture a game at a resolution higher than the video game supports. Roxio Game Capture only supports a resolution up to 1080i if the game does. However, most of modern HD games support 720 natively. You can generally see what resolution your game supports on the back of the game's packaging.

Here's how to check the TV output settings on your PS3:

  •
  • Make sure Standard Resolution (480i), 480, 720p and 1080i are checked. This will depend on the resolution of your TV supports. For example, if you have a 720 flat screen, you will not be able to capture in 1080i provided your game supports the resolution.
  • Uncheck 1080p. If the original connection from PS3 to TV is through HDMI, it is likely you have this setting checked if you have a more recent HDTV.

Stating what game is blurry, it's native resolution, as well as what resolution your TV and PS3 is set at will help a lot. Also, describe how the signal is bad: blurry, flicker, etc. If you have a YouTube video, that would help a lot.
