I have just purchased Toast 11 with the HD plugin (ie with the latest patch) and the plan is to produce a high definition DVD (AVCHD) to play on set-top Blu-ray players. I had successfully to author the contents (8 MP4s) and saved the the DVD as a disc image. Then I tried to burn the disc image on DVD-R twice and the first attempt finished at 100% and then hung. The second attempt worked well and returned back to the menu normally.
Then I tried both discs with a Sony Blu-ray player with an AVCHD logo (ie AVCHD disc compatible). However, only the first three chapters out of eight can be played for both discs. Then the video stopped at the fourth chapter. I tried to select the 4-8 chapter individually but they didn't work (control remained on the disc menu) although the player counter was still moving. In fact, as an exceptional case, the 8th chapter of the first disc can be selected individually and played fine.
Then I tried both discs with the built in Roxio video player (bundled with the HD plug-in), apparently all eight chapters can be selected and played individually (although the performance was very choppy!). In other words, all chapters do exist and valid on both discs.
Is this a Blu-ray player compatibility issue or Toast 11 has a player-specific bug somewhere! Hope the experts here could shed some light on this issue.
PS: Instead of cutting High Definition DVD, I also tried the same 8x MP4 in similar workflow to burn a SD DVD with Toast 11, the disc works fine.
