Blu Ray Viewing And Burning On Mac Os 10.6

chicknhock

Question

I bought toast 11 and then purchased the blu ray plug in so I can burn blu ray on my mac. I got error messages when burning, so decided to see if the plug in is working. I put a blu ray movie into my buffalo blu ray burner/player to see if it would play and nothing happens. There is nothing in my toast 11 menu for viewing a blue ray disc, only burning. Can someone help me. thanks.

Toast can play user-burned Blu-ray discs using the Roxio Video Player that's available via the Toast Extras menu. It cannot play commercial Blu-ray discs.

You plugin is working if the option to create a Blu-ray video in the Video window is active. The error you encountered is not an indicator of anything wrong with the plugin. On your next attempt choose Save as Disc Image (from the File menu) instead of clicking the burn button. If an error occurs let me know what is the error message. If there is no error making the disc image, burn it to disc using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. If an error occurs when burning the disc image let me know what is the error message.

Thanks, well, I saved as disc image with no problems. Then I went to the toast copy window and tried to burn it using the Image File Settting-i dragged the image and it showed in the window. I set the burn speed to BD X1, feeling that the slower burn speed might help. When I hit burn button, it started, but almost immediately gave the error message-medium error, the disc failed to be written. So I have wasted another disc. What other help could you give me. Would it help to mount the disc image and drag it into the window? Thanks again for any help you can give.

A medium error usually means the firmware in the optical drive doesn't get along with the brand of disc you are using. Sometimes this can be fixed with a firmware update to the drive. Usually it means getting a different brand of media. My understanding is Verbatim discs are typically supported by all drives. Check with the manufacturer of your drive as to what media brands they recommend.
