Question

Well, about 1 month ago I purchased Roxio Game Capture, in store at MAPLIN. Since then, I had no problems with it. But I have recently needed to restore my computer to factory settings. The problem with this is that I can't find my CD key for the disk, which I really need. If needed, I can provide evidence of a picture of my roxio and disk. As many of you may know, the disk installation process is vital, as I can't use the product without the drivers.

All I'm asking for, is a method in which I can get a new keycode or a driver download...

Any help appreciated, Charlie...

So they won't give me a key, or even a driver download?

I pay £80 for their product and they can't give me a key code?

Give me, give me. give me!

I've seen more lost CD-Keys and lost installation CD's in the 'Roxio Game Capture for consoles forum' than the whole rest of the forums in the last ten years combined!

Commercial software you buy costs you cash. That cash reimburses the software company for the product they sell you. It's real simple you have to be responsible and save the CD Jacket, and installation disc, you were sold for future installations if needed.

No software company I know will give away free CD-Keys or Driver Downloads just because you say you lost them! Doing so would invite software piracy and the thought of one posting and complaining "they won't give me a key, or even a driver download?" makes me question the age of the poster and his/her knowledge in these matters?

If losing £80 bothers you be more responsible and don't lose what you paid for.

Sorry, but it's time to move on..

I understand that the points made above. But I really don't want to waste £80 :(

If there was a public driver download for the device, nobody would have this problem. I have no problem in not having the software, it's the fact that you need too install the software or get given a driver, too use the device at all :/

Did you check out the links that sknis posted in Post #2 of this thread?

The CD Key and the USB Device driver are two different things.

There is no "public driver download"!

Something is starting to smell fishy..

What I'm saying is, I basiacally need to install the disk which I can't do because I don't have a CD key. I don't mind that I don't have the software, but the driver for the device is on the disk. So I spent £80 for a disk essentially, as the product is useless without ut..

Do you read the posts? Where is the key that came with your package? Did you register your software? The drivers are part of the software install. There is no driver download.

Right.. What I'm trying to say is that I don't understand why Roxio can't provide with a link for the driver. I have previously owned a Dazzle DVC 100 capture device. I didn't need a disk to use the product, as I could download a driver. But I needed a disk for the software, along with the keycode.

So basically, why can't roxio provide us with a driver for the product, without needing to install the software?

Try a recent Dazzle device with someone else's software . Chances are it won't work. Most dazzle devices came with software which had the drivers (from experience). The same with the Roxio device, there is probably a 99% or greater chance it won't work with other software. They have also slowed down development of new drivers (none for 64 bit systems).

Your posts are not making sense. Your historical memory is NOT correct. t does no good to rant here. Contact Roxio; we can't help.

Your next post will be an accusation that we are disrespecting and abusing you.

In post #1 you say you have the RGC disc but lost the paper jacket with the CD Key.

Is that true or not?
