Logical Communication Time Out?

themightygoose

Question

I have a new iMac running Lion. I have a Pioneer BDR-206 in an external case. I insert a blu-ray and Toast sees the drive and knows it has a blank disc. Everything seems to work fine but during the burn I get the following error: "The Drive Reported an Error Sense Key=Hardware Error Code= 0x08, 0x01 Logical Communication Time Out". I gave up on this problem several months ago when there seemed to be no solution. Now I'm coming back hoping there is an answer. I have wasted lots of money trying all kinds of brands of BDRs, since that seems to be the only suggestion so far.

I don't know what the reason could be for that. Check if a firmware update is available for the Pioneer drive. Check that you are using a brand of media recommended by Pioneer. Check that you don't have your Mac's Energy Saver settings on to put any drives to sleep. I also recommend choosing Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. When that is done burn the .toast disc image using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.
