Videowave - Overlay - (Shaped Masks) - Does Not Work - It's Gone?

Riley Scrivner

Question

Overlay - Main tab (Shaped Masks) - FEATURE HAS DISAPPEARED - DOES NOT FUCTION?

First time on the Board. Product and Computer info at bottom of page.

(I've done this in the past but now nothing? It was there last month but now I can't find it)

I have already imported a movie into Videowave and saved it and it work great (MP4 format – maybe this is the problem?). I then imported another movie segment (MPG format same dimensions)as an Overlay with the intent to soften the edges and use the transparent feature to blend it into the now existing movie already saved. I highlighted the new overlay movie, went to settings, and clicked. The setting looked like it should work (not faded out and it moved when I clicked it), but nothing happen. I expected the Settings window to open so I can adjust things. I made a screen shot of a Tutorial and attached it, showing the window I expected to see. I know this is showing it for "Text" Settings but this would my second use of the Overlay Masked feature so I "think" this is the window I expected to see.

I also tried pictures, in overlay, and still nothing. Can you help??? If the answer is re-install I’m going to just go nuts. I have “re-installed” so many times with Roxio issues (different products on different computers) and that normally creates another set of issues.

Any ideas?? Also if it is another re-install – would you be so kind to put the link in your reply where the latest and best instructions on how to un-install?

In advance – THANK YOU - either way it goes - And I truly appreciate this Board and the poeple who help make it happen!

Sincerely

Riley

You've actually posted a screenshot of Storyline View, not Timeline View. In Storyline View, I think you have to click on the overlay in the actual preview window to get the settings dialog.

If that doesn't work, click on the Timeline View button just above the thumbnails. Find the overlay track and click on the overlay you want to adjust. Still no Settings?

I have tried both Timeline and and Storyline view (including your suggestions) and have tried this several times in the past few days. Im sorry to say nothing happens

I went ahead and made a quick test production with different pictures and a different movie overlay. I tested it and the same problem exists. I made a screen shot of this. My goal was to make a very simple production so "maybe" this would help in trying to figure out the problem?

PROBLEM RESOLVED. I WENT BACK AND LOOKED AT EVERYTHING AGAIN AND KARRI SAID SOMETHING THAT I ACTED ON: I CHANGED THE RESOLUTION TO A MUCH HIGHER AMOUNT AND THERE IT WAS. THE SETTING WINDOW WAS UNDOCKED SITTING BY ITSELF IN NO MAN'S LAND SORT OF SPEAK. I REDOCKED THE WINDOW INSIDE OF THE VIDEOWAVE WINDOW AND PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THANKS KARRI!!!!!! HERE IS KARRI'S MESSAGE ONCE AGAIN - SEE BELOW

Do the Show Media Selector and Show Effect Selector links work? Just wondering if the Settings dialog got moved off the screen (if it was undocked, which I think is the default). Otherwise, one of the guys will be by to help out.

Could you post a screenshot of the timeline showing also the overlay track?

They both open their windows with no problem. It's like the "Show Setting" link just doesn't activate any longer??? Im stumped...but that's why I'm here. I alwsy try realy hard to try to figure things out before I cry for help. Thanks for trying so hard to help. Maybe someone else may have an idea?????

I just opened the production that I did last month using the Mask feature successfully. I stil can not get the setting window to open. Im beginning to feel like another un-install/install is coming

What happens when you click on the Show Settings link on the left of your screenshot? Does the Settings panel open at all?

Unfortunately nothing happens – no window opens – the lettering “Show Settings” is not faded out and the little underline appears when my cursor touches it, but again nothing happens when I click it.

Yes Timeline view and the movie overlay or the picture is highlighted. Then I click the Tools>Settings and nothing happens.

I made a screen shot. Please see ionfo below.

I made a quick easy new production to test. I have clicked (highlighted) a picture. Then I wen to the top and clicked Tools. Please see what drops down? Isn't there something missing?

I am having some difficulty understanding what you are doing. Correct me if I am wrong.

You have added a video clip in mp4 format to the main video track. You then are adding the same video clip but in mpg format to the overlay track. You then want to adjust the mpg video to somehow give you a "softer". To do this you need to adjust some of the parameters using the overlay settings. The problem is that you cannot get the Overlay settings window to open as shown in the image below. Is that correct?

Yes - this window you have posted I can not activate (no screen shot posssible) - thanks everyone again for helping - MY ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ARE IN() BELOW

Why are you adding two different format videos? (DIFFERENT MOVIES)Are they exactly the same resolution (NO)? Did you double-click on the overlay video? (YES) That opens the settings window as I show.

The Screen shot I'm showing is not mind. I found this in a Tutorial of how to use Videowave Text. I am using it as an example.

Gee - I wish I could show you the screen shot of this setting box but I can not. This is the problem. The setting Box will not open for pictures or movies…Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Riley, Do you have the overlay selected? The settings in your screen shot refer to a text overlay setting. Click on the overlay to select it and you should get the proper settings box. If that doesn't work take a screen shot of your actual production with the missing settings box, so the guys can determine better where the trouble might be.
