Really Need Help With Vhs To Dvd Plus

kaychan2

Question

I have been days trying to figure out this program. Have gone through many disks. Have a couple that copied. When they were done they seemed to finish themselves and ejected. Some played, some were blank.

I always chose Record DVD.

This time I chose: Record - Edit-Save. Recorded for three hours, then instead of ejecting a finished disk I got a new screen where I could edit, I guess, or choose import video or record video. I didn't want to do any of those things, so clicked on the arrow at the bottom right to go to the next screen, hoping to end all this.

That took me to another screen where you can choose where you want the file to go, iphone, ipod, dvd etc. I chose dvd

gave it a title checked span to put on multiple disks.

This is where I am stuck. I get no other options, and nothing happens. There is a button at the bottom right that says burn, but it is grayed out, so nothing happens when I click it. The right pane of the window shows my video, but it has a yellow triangle over it with an explanation point in it. I don't want to take out the disk early and lose everything.

I've written to support so many times I'm sure they are ignoring me. I just want to finish this.

A few simple instructions would have been so appreciated. I have never struggled with a program like this before.

If someone can please tell me what to do next I will be so appreciative.

I don't need anything special.......just copy a VHS to a DVD. It sounded so simple.

thanks,k

Just have to ask, did you put a new DVD into your selected burner? Is there any text near the exclaimation mark?

LOL, yes I have a burner too. I'm not quite as ditzy as I come across. I guess I'm used to having instructions with a new program. I can, actually follow instructions too. ;)

I couldn't wait. I had to take the disk out. It was there for hours; I wanted to know if there was anything on it and there was not. So, from that I figured Using the start button of (record-edit-save) probably was not the one I should use. (maybe this is just for one that has been previously recorded and saved on the computer somewhere)??In other words; recorded and saved and then at a later time want to open it to edit it???

So, for the third time, I ran the VHS video and started over, this time choosing the "Record DVD". The recording ended and I was given a message (this time the yellow triangle)that said it had to be split, so I figured out how to do that (also, not easy for someone who has never done anything like this before). I did set a point and it says it is exporting to a DVD right now.

I had actually managed to get a tape recorded earlier, but it was short, so didn't run into the split thing. Also When I tried to change the recording time, it was grayed out and I was not able to do that.

I presume I'll get notice to insert a second DVD to burn for part 2.

If you can tell me, are my assumptions above correct?

I have nothing to tell me what does what, why or where. I'm afraid I am a "show me" type learner. I like pictures and words, and if really lucky a warm body to show me. I learn very fast, when shown what to do. I wish I could be trained on this. I could certainly write a help manual that a novice could follow without such stress.

I have a lot of OLD home video's that I want to preserve, so any help or suggestions will be so very welcome.

thank you so much for responding.

Also keep in mind that a 2 hour movie is going to take anywhere from just under 2 hours up to 8 hours to render/burn :o It depends on how closely your output settings and your CPU speed ;)
