Question

I am trying to save some home movies from DVD disc's to a USB. I have 9 disc and want to put them all on the same USB. I don't know how to compress the files so that they will fit and change the file type so that you can open it with Windows Media Player. I am going this for my father-in-law and he only knows how to use WMP. Can anyone help me. Right now I really think Roxio is a waste of money.

Operating system and service packs?

WMP version #?

Name and Version # of Roxio software your using?

Size of the 9 DVD disc you want to put on USB? View the DVD Disc's in my computer and tally the Gigabytes.

Size of USB device?

Windows 7

Roxio Creator 2012. I am not sure what Version # I downloaded it last week so it should be pretty up to date.

Disc's - 3.5 to 3.7 gig each

USB 16 gig with files already on it. There is 7 gig left on it.

WMP I am not sure as I am at work and not at home to look at the moment. Should be newer as the computer is only 9 months old.

Windows 7 has a DVD Decoder installed in the OS. Playing a DVD with WMP in W-7 is as easy as this. I would teach him how to play a DVD in WMP.

Trying to put 31.5 GB on a USB Device with "7 gig left on it" would take a considerable amount of PC grind time and horse power to compress it down to 7gig.
