Are you wanting to download it from YouTube? If so, use the Web video option in the Video tab of the Toast Media Browser. Otherwise just use a USB thumb drive to copy it from the PC over to the Mac.

no i want to capture my footage then save it to a flash drive then put it on my mac but i don't know which file to save it as like avi dv mp4 or what

yeah i save it like that, and after the .dv or whichever one of those, it puts .dmsm and .dat

Those .dmsm and .dat files are project files associated with the videowave app in the Roxio PC products. They are not video files and contain no video. Saving only saves the project file. With the project open, you need to export your project to a video file choosing one of the types Tsantee has recommended.

but imovie still wont accept the file

What file won't it accept? A video file you created by doing the export as noted?

If you created a video file by doing the export, what were the settings you used? Was it a type that Tsantee listed? What was the name of the file and the extension?

What message does iMovie display when you try to use the file?

Please try to provide some details in your posts as we can't see what's happening on your end .
