Removing Audio Imperfections

Question

I have looked around quite a bit and can't seem to find any documentation on how to remove background noise in an audio file.

I have the Roxio vhs2dvd and the usb capture device. I have captured movies that I transferred from my video camera to a VHS tape. I now have the videos stored on disk as mpg. I can open the files in videoWave and there's nothing there to fix the audio. I can't use sound editor on the files because they're not mp3.

One of the reasons i bought the creator2012 program is because I saw a blurb that said it could take out scratches and hisses from my movies.

Thanks for the help

Albums have scratches, hisses, and audio imperfections.

Thanks for that, I missed the learning center button. However, my issue is not music, it's video. Hiss from vhs tapes.

Did you buy the standard version or the PRO? The pro comes with IZotope which does a much better job of cleaning the hiss. It is not integrated into the program so search your computer for the Izotope folder/program.

If you just got the Creator 2012 and did not get the Pro directly from Roxio within the last 30 days, then return it and get the Pro. If you do it today, you may get a discount.

If not, download the free trial of 'GoldWave". It will clean up the hiss easily. If you don't have many tapes, then the trial should be enough.

You will have to extract the audio from the video file, clean it up and then put it back into Video Wave as a music or other audio track and then mute the native audio track.

However if you do have Izotope, it will do the extract automatically if

Music & Speech Cleaner can open and save the following file formats. Open: WAV, AIF, MP3, M4A, AAC, WMA, MOV, MP4, AVI

Note:when opening the movie file types (MOV, MP4, AVI) Music & Speech Cleaner will automatically extract the audio portion from the video file to work with.
