Using External Drive To Burn Dvd

elquetzal

Question

I have just purchased Toast 11 and obviously missing something really basic. I would like to burn a DVD using my external drive. Unfortunately every time I select "Burn" I am given only the option to use my internal drive in my MacBook Pro. Would some knowledgeable user please advise how I select my external drive to do the burn. I have used this ext drive for a couple of years on many applications including Popcorn and always have had the option to chose which drive I use.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Michael.

In previous Toast versions, you would be shown a "Recorder Setup" dialog button after you press the record button where you choose your recorder.

In order to save a step, we added a drive selection to the main Toast window. In Toast, look at the bottom of the window for the pull down "Destination" menu (very bottom center of window). Here you can select the drive (or drives) you want to use for your project.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately I have already checked the "Destination" menu and my external drive is not showing up. I confirm that it is connected to my MacBook Pro and switched on. As a test I tried it in a couple of other applications and it was available for selection in those. Any other suggestions please.

Was the drive plugged in and turned on before you launched Toast?

If so, what kind of external drive is it and how is it connected to the Mac, with USB?

Which other application was it available in, for example if you try to burn in iTunes or FInder does it work successfully?

thanks

Thanks for the really prompt reply. Panic over. I discovered that my connection to my Mac had come loose.

I do apologize for wasting your time. I should have checked.
