Following this knowledge base article, Preparing your computer for installing Roxio products, http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000080GN

Place the installation disc in a drive, when the installer offers a repair choose it and reboot the PC.

Did that fix it?

just to see if uninstalling it would help-- well it did not-- same problem

i just got the hardware and software in a offer Roxio had with upgrade easy vcr to dvd 3

the first ver did work the first time but after i uninstall it and install ver 3- i can even get that one to work now

i did find something on the top ten review web site-- they mention they had a problem getting it to work and had to download a driver but they never mention what it was

http://vhs-to-dvd-converters-review.toptenreviews.com/roxio-easy-vhs-to-dvd-review.html

At first glance, Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus looks like it will be exceptionally easy to use. The driver downloads and software are all on one CD. However, after downloading the CD information, we found we still could not connect the device to our computer.

We followed the directions in the concise user's manual that is included with the VHS to DVD converters. The pictures in the book were exactly like our screen, but we still had problems getting the driver to download. Next, we went to the manufacturer’s website and downloaded a driver that would allow us to finally connect to the computer. We were able to use Windows Movie Maker and the VideoLAN Client (VLC),but we were still unable to use the Roxio software that was included with the product.

After again going to the website, we found an instant chat option for help. The customer service representative gave us a patch for the software, but we had to uninstall and reinstall the software to use the patch. When we had finally installed the Roxio software for the second time, with the necessary patch, we were able to use it.

To get the software to recognize the VHS to DVD converters, the customer support representative told us we needed to download the driver from the website, not the CD. While downloading a driver from the manufacturer’s website is not a difficult process, and the chat representative gave us a link, it is still somewhat frustrating and can be confusing and difficult to find. Also, the software required a patch before we could get it to recognize the VHS to DVD converters.

Nevertheless, when everything was installed, the product was fantastically userfriendly. The Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus device easily copied everything from CDs to copyrighted videos, and digitizing our materials was quick and simple. We especially liked the versatility of the product. We were able to use the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus device with any video editing software.

I ran Ccleaner to get rid of all roxio registry entries

I ran MSCONFIG and disable all startup

I disable avasti anti virus

I ran the easy vhs to dvd as administrator

enable all MSCONFIG startup

enable anti virus

reboot

----

click on desktop short cut easy vhs to dvd 3—and opening screen pop up—blue screen tell me it roxio easy vhs to dvd 3 build 310b37a,vh3

but noting happen after that- it like to freeze jam up

I plug in the roxio hard ware capture usb tool

and window pop up told me it installing driver- and then your device is ready to use

--- roxio video capture USB

----usb 2861 device

and that as far as I get it frozen up jam good- opening screen and no way to shut it off

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

OK here is my fix.

If you have any other Roxio installed besides Vhs to dvd 3 i suggest you uninstall all first.

I went to my computer and did a search for roxio.

i deleted every thing that said roxio.

I then went into regedit and did the same search roxio, i then deleted every registry entry that said roxio.

It installed with no problem.

i messed with this for days.

before i found the fix.

Windows 7 ultimate 64 was the operating system on a quad core I7 2.4 ghz

A sager note book.

You do not necessarily have to uninstall other Roxio programs when installing VHS2DVD-3. Many of us have other Roxio programs installed when installing VHS2DVD or other Roxio programs.

What you describe is not a fix but is actually dangerous to your system. Just "deleting" files that contain the text Roxio and all Registry entries that reference Roxio most likely does not remove all Roxio elements that need to be removed and may well remove some entries that are required by the burning routine which have nothing to do with any Roxio programs.

So...is there a real fix for this that doesn't require that I potentially harm my system by deleting registry items? I'm kind of getting frustrated with this problem, too (where, even after multiple re-installs the program just stops at the opening label screen), and am considering just returning it and finding a different product that at least lets me see its interface. If it helps, I'm using an hp Pavilion dv6, running Windows 7 Home Premium sp1, and have 83 gigs of free memory (6 gigs RAM, and 64-bit operating system). The above posts were kind of confusing to me (a lot because of the grammar), but I didn't see any real fixes. Am I just screwed here? I appreciate any insight...

You could have started a new Topic as the OP's problem is not really the same as yours...

But if you have a program that works, then fails over time... it points to a Reg Cleaner that is wrecking your system

It is likely part of your AV software and needs to be turned OFF! Then the EVD 3 Repaired. I have never seen a Reg Cleaner that did any good and have been in this computer game since the 80's ;)

Sorry, I didn't start a new thread because I was having a problem that sounded just like the opening post (and title of the thread). When I tried to open the program, it would just get stuck at that opening blue screen and would never progress. However, I found a funny, and easy, fix last night. I just unplugged the USB device while it was stuck on that screen. It gave me a little error message, but after that the program seems to open just fine now. It's almost like it was getting hung up on trying to detect the USB device or something (I'm no tech guy). Anyway, problem solved on my end. Thanks for the response, though!!

I must have misread your posting... You are correct, it is about the Topic Text ~ sorry!

Even though you found a band-aid, it should not behave like that!

I suggest using proceduredure for a proper repair (sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries)

Unplug the device and put it aside till later.

Turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc. and insert your Roxio Disc, run Install.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

Then turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Hope that will resolve it but keep in mind what ICleanersut Reg Clearners ;)
