Roxio Software/drivers

knowah

Question

So, last night I bought the Game Cap from Sam's Club. It was their last one and they currently have no intent to restock.

Here's my dilemma: The package did not have any software in the package. It came with a component cable, USB cable, and the game cap unit itself. I'm assuming someone with sticky fingers got to it before I did and lifted the software. It could also have been returned and the store thought everything was there.

Now I have no drivers/software and they don't seem to be widely available. I tried contacting support, but the site says they can't respond without me registering the product. When I try to register the product, it says the S/N obtained from the back of the device is incorrect format. Hopefully they'll still respond, but I'm not holding my breath.

So, anyone have the drivers? There shouldn't be any reason they don't have them posted on the site like every other device mfg's site, but alas, I don't see them.

I WOULD like the 32 and 64 bit drivers as I have 2 different systems. I'm hoping the 32 bit laptop has enough power to record, but if I have to, I'll move the 64 bit desktop into the same room.

If I can't get the drivers, I guess I'll just return it and look for something else. I'd love to have the software too, but I'm figuring I can use Virtual Dub or something along those lines instead.

Return it to Sams Club, the hardware is no good without the software. Corel/Roxio will not issue the software/drivers.

Then you will have to shop arround for the best deal on this product. Sorry about that.

Even if they were available from Corel/Roxio, the drivers would be useless without the full software package. If someone stole the software from the package (which I doubt), it would not do them much good without the specific hardware.

Take it back to Sams and get your money back.

Thanks. Roxio did respond with this link: http://corel.force.com/index/articles/en_US/Master_Article/000012291-No-installation-disc-included-with-Roxio-Game-Capture

which doesn't answer the issue, it just says 'you might be an idiot' =P. Since I have 90 days to return the product to Sam's, I am going to give Roxio a few days to correct the issue or tell me that they can't. Hopefully they can resolve the registering issue as well.

While I wait it out I might scour the net to see if someone has them hosted somewhere. It's not how I want to go about things, but I would like to try the product I paid for.

Well I did find the drivers that seem to allow my computer to see the device under sound/video/etc controllers instead of 'other devices.' I'll keep you guys posted if Roxio ever gives me any info about the software side of things.
