Copy & Convert Problem

kris10222

Question

I have been trying to convert videos from my computer to burn to a dvd. When I do this this crap program stops working and then has to close....I wished I would have known this before I bought this product. I have nothing but trouble when trying to edit my church's program. Easy CD creator was much better than this. Any suggestions on a fix to this?

Maybe if you gave us some more info on what excactly you are doing we cab help you you with this "crap program".

Give us a step by step of what you are trying to do....provide details of what Videos you are trying to convert, what specific application in the Roxio program you are using....all we got so far is "nothing but trouble" and "Easy CD creator was better"....not much to go on.

Details, details,details......

Ok... I downloaded a movie form the net. I wanted to put it on a dvd for my daughter to watch in her room as I use my computer and cant let her watch it in here. I tried to convert the movie which is in avi to the format that goes into a dvd to play on a dvd player. As for codec, shouldn't the "crap program" come with the proper codecs? I went as far to install the K-lite codecs which normally work with everything.

For what I was doing, I open the Copy and Convert program and when I select the movie to convert, the program throws up a window that tells me the program has stopped working and will close....It also does this when I am editing the programs from a church service sometimes, so thats about it.

Now I must digress as I was highly aggravated at the time I made the post and I apologize for the Crap Program statement, but easy cd creator was better, imo....

If you downloaded the movie from the net then all bets are off. If it is a commercial, copyrighted movie then what you are doing is illegal. In addition you may also have picked up a virus doing the download. Just because the movie is an avi format does not mean that it is a common one, there are over 800 of these out there and not everyone is supported by Roxio. Roxio handles the proper, most common codecs.

I have no idea to which Easy CD Creator you are referring.

Your previous version was EMC 7.5??? (mentioned, HERE)

When the program crashes from time to time, like you are describing, It indicates a problem... This would be the time to:

Follow the
to the letter!

(main thing is to turn OFF you Anti Virus as it can interfere with the Repair process)

Then start to Install the Program, only choose
Repair
when it is offered.

I am hoping that will clear up your intermittent crashing problem ;)

Assuming the movie is 'legal', you mentioned it is AVI which may indicate it is DivX...

IF you have the 2012 Pro version, DivX is on the second disc.

If you don't have the Pro version and need to burn them... You will probably have to revert to some 3rd Party software. There are some other regulars here that know far more about that than I

Your pushing the edge of what is allowed here with sarcastic quips aimed at a fellow memeber... That behavior can put you on the fast track to being barred here!

Likewise no discussion of illegal copy is permitted and from you first post, it is in question! The Illegal downloads, on the web far outnumber any legal downloads, so a question is in order.

I will try that Jim. Is it a good idea that I turn off my anti virus when using the roxio program?

Hi Kris,

It's very important to turn it off when installing/repairing the suite, because anti-virus programs often block some of the things the installer needs to do and so they cause a big mess.

Apart from installing/repairing, you should keep your anti-virus program on at all times.

Regards,

Brendon
