Install Problems - Xp (Moved)

Dbellas

Question

I am having an install problem with Easy CD/DVD Ver 8. I had it installed once but it kept asking me to reinstall due to an error. I uninstalled it and when I tryed to reinstall I got an error right after pressing install 'product won't install - error 640C. I did a complete uninstall per the forums uninstall instructions-- no Joy. Coincidentally I am also having trouble with a Windows XP service pack KB951847 update to NET 3.5, 2.5, 2.0 which MS says is 'optional', I don't know if the two are related but so far I have reloaded all of the NET framework up to 4.5.

Any Help appreciated.

Please post the full text of the error. I did a search for "640C" and the only thing I came up with are errors with an HP optical driv . Look in device manager (or whatever it is called in XP to see if your computer has that drive listed with no comment near it (exclaimation point). Of course you would get an immediate error if the drive was not usable. You would get a different error if the disc was bad.

Yes, you need .net and DirectX 9c and MSXML but not having those would not be an issue for the install.

Make sure your computer is updated following these guidelines.

Most people miss some items in their uninstall because some of them are in use and can't be deleted. Move those items to your desktop, reboot and then delete them. You can also try downloading the PRO version of "Revo Uninstaller" and see if any of the porgrams shows up. There is a short free trial of the Pro version available; it is supposed to find and remove partially installed programs. Use it only in the MODERATE MODE.

Get rid of your e-mail address unless you really like spam. The spambots love to find posted e-mail addresses on forums. Also get rid of the "for sale part of your signature" Are you going to install the program on the XP computer since you are selling it? If so , and the fact that you have a W7 computer why?
