Multiplexing Problem

zerofour

Question

Hi guys,

Hope you can help... Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Here's my workflow... Final Cut > Compressor to create .m2v and .ac3 files and then into Toast 11.0.6 to create a DVD on an iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

On 2 different DVDs now, I've gone to burn the DVD. It's gone to multiplex the DVD, popped up the little window, the yellow progress line tracks across then suddenly the window disappears and it bounces back to the main 'Video' window...

The only solution I've found is using Toast 10 which has no problems burning the DVD straight off.

Any help really appreciated, thanks :)

Try it with Toast 11.0.4. They introduced some bugs with 11.0.6 and this may be among them. If you don't have Toast 11.0.4 now you can download it from the Software Updates page. Just rename your existing Toast 11.0.6 folder. You can have both.

Thanks laods for the response, much appreciated. However, after re-naming the 11.0.6 folder (and then moving out of applications), installed 11.0.4. Unfortunately it did exactly the same thing. So am wondering whether it's something to do with a conflict with either .m2v or .ac3 files on some occasions. I have burned other DVDs successfully and can't think of anything in my workflow I did that was different...

Bit frustrating as it's a DVD for a girl in a wheelchair who ran an Olympic Torch leg. Previous version of Toast doesn't quite give the same options! Ah well, maybe I'll try creating .h264 files or something and then trying to burn them instead...?!

Thanks :)

Just tested with Macbook Pro running Lion (10.7.4) with Toast 11.0.4 and it goes to multiplexing window and bounces straight back with no progress / yellow bar...

And then tested with 11.0.6 update and same thing, absolutely no progress.

Have also tried with different DVDs, so this definitely a bug within 11.0.4 and 11.0.6

I'll do some tests today. I don't have Compressor so I'll just demux some MPEG videos and see if Toast works with those. What settings did you use in Compressor for the .m2v and .ac3?

Thanks so much for your time and help.

Name: MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-pass PAL - same as standard 'DVD best quality' except selected PAL rather than 'auto'

Name: Dolby Digital Professional 2.0

Description: 2.0 Dolby Digital audio at 192kbps - this is the standard 'Best Quality' audio setting

Well, it's worked at last... Not quite sure what happened, but did notice that the second file on the DVD was displaying as only being 10 seconds bizarrely... So maybe something went wrong as the file is 2min 58 and having just re-imported the same file it's fine!!
