Jim_Hardin
Make and Model of your camcorder? How are you connecting the camcorder video output? Your PC Specs, like I have in my signature block? Do you have the 201Bxxx version of the software?

You have a digital miniDV camcorder and you should be capturing with a Firewire connection. Perhaps this for your camera can help you
Jim_Hardin
Yes, Walt is right. FireWire or iLink is the only way you will get DV (720 X 480) quality from that camcorder.
choganj
You are unable to play your video because of codecs unavailability on your system. By the way, what is the format of video file, you are trying to play? You can try upgrading you operating system, as it might also upgrade your media player to latest version. On the other hand you can download and install necessary codecs manually. You can also try installing other third party software like VLC Media Player. This is a very handy software and is able to play almost every format. You can also view http://www.techyv.com/questions/i-recently-upgraded-and-i-cant-seem-watch-my-movie-files-any-longer for more information. I hope it might be of some help. SaltyL
I have a similar (but different) problem. I have been using Easy VHS To DVD to record programs from my DVR to the computer without any problems. I tried to record from my VCR today but could get only sound. I'm using Windows 7 on an Acer laptop. When I connected the cables, I tried using S Video; I tried using the RCA connectors..nothing at all with the S Video; I got only audio with the RCA connectors in place. Help! ogdens
What happens when you switch back to the DVR?.
SaltyL
No problem with using the DVR; I do have to change cables/cords/whatever around but when I put them back the way they were initially, no problem with the DVR to computer. I still can't get any video from the VHS.
ogdens
So we know the Roxio software and device is ok....it could be the VCR, or bad composite cable. Some older VCR's just dont have a strong enough signal for the Roxio unit to detect (borrow a friends for a test). If you PVR has the correct jacks on it (composite), you could try using it as a passthrough. VCR>DVR>Roxio unit.
