Creator 2012 And Mts Files

Hi

 

New to the forum.

 

Just purchased C2012 after using 2010 for some time. Upgraded as I now have Panasonic HD camcorder and want to work with the mts files it produces. Searched around and from what I could see 2012 would work with these files.

Now I have it and it doesn't seem to recognise the mts files at all - some video functions show the files when browsing, but do nothing with them, other functions won't even see the files in the 'Open' box.

 

Am I doing something wrong, or have I wasted my money?

 

Have searched the forum but couldn't see anything.

Well....

 

Let's get on the same page - open VideoWave (Edit Video Advanced).

 

Now if you use the File - Open then of course that will only open Production Files (dmsm)

 

 

 

You need to choose Add Photo/Video:

 

 

Which will give you a multitude of file type choices:

 

 

Once you choose a file, or multiple files, you will be good to go

I am using the add photo/video function, and it does show some files listed, but they are not thumbnails and when I try and select them or preview i get nothing. I don't have time to try again at the moment, but will do later tomorrow after work. Tried to post a screen shot but couldn't paste into the post - I've attached an image - what's the best way to insert screeshots as you have?

I think his last post is referring to adding pictures to the post. But the image he added shows a definite problem with VideoWave not appreciating his .MTS files. Like you, Gary, I have no problem with adding my .MTS files, previewing them, etc. I'm using a Canon Vixia HF R100, and it's currently set up for NTSC, 60 fps, 1080i.

Camera is a Panasonic HDC-SD10. Recording mode is HA1920 - for the highest quality. To get the files on the PC I just copy them off the SD card - should I be using a Import function?

Just tried recordings with the two lowest resolution settings, no change.

Yes, but see other post - have tried lower quality settings still with no joy.

OK - been doing further investigation. It must be something do to with the file make-up, it's not the mts extension itself that throws it. I renamed a .mpg file to .mts and I could use it no problem.

 

What are Panasonic doing that's different???

This is driving me nuts.

 

When I hover over the mts file icon in the insert photos/videos box, the pop-up box says 'no attributes available'. This must be somthing to do with it. In Windows Explorere the files show the attributtes. I've tried importing the files with different programs, and copying all the other files in the AVCHD folder over too. All to no avail.

Solution found!

 

Still don't know why it doesn't see the .mts files, but if I rename them .m2ts everything works and attributes are shown.

The good thing is that you found a workaround, worth remembering
