Thomas D
What are the video formats that Toast uses to burn its DVD, Hi Def DVD, and Blu Ray disks? I notice that Toast takes quite a long time to render the disk, and I am guessing that much of that time is spent in converting video formats. Is there a particular video format that I should supply to toast to minimize the rendering time? I am using Final Cut pro and Compressor, so I can create a variety of video formats. 0 tsantee
The video DVD format is MPEG 2. The HD and Blu-ray formats are your choice of MPEG 4 AVC or MPEG 2. Since you have Compressor you can use it to create an in-spec MPEG 2 video and then choose Never Re-encode in Toast's custom encoder settings window to have Toast multiplex rather than encode the video when authoring the disc. I don't know if there is a way to avoid encoding when using the MPEG 4 AVC setting.
