Upgrade From Free Version Comparison Other Software

Andylee

Question

I have been "burned" by photostage - hangs up on editing; crashes; doesn't save all images. seems to run out of memory.

If I purchase the Roxio creator 2012, is there any difference? What is the comparison among software products?

For example, Roxio seems to work as a web-based product, whereas other software is directly on your own computer. Is there a difference? For example, in the reliability of editing and saving without "crashes" or "hang-ups"? Also, if I use Roxio to save a project, do I get a usable "movie" I can download and save to my computer, and then put up on YouTube if I like?

Thanks for help.

Photostage? That is supposed to be an excellent program for slide show production. Where did you get it free? Is it the Pro version?

Before I recommend anything, it is important to know if your computer will handle either of them should you decide to buy one. Please give us your computer information. Attach the results of a dxdiag evaluation of your computer. Read this. Do not copy and paste the contents of the file. Look to the lower right when you reply and use the "More Reply Options" to attach the file. If you are using a netbook or a "business" computer, your issues may stem from either the computer speed or the video card/chip.

I'm going to take a guess that you are looking for a program that is primarily for making and sharing slide shows on line. Are you interested in more?

Roxio/Corel has a program called PhotoShow (link) that makes the slide shows, creates video files if you want and and be viewed by friends and family on line.

You mention Creator 2012. That is a suite of programs that includes slide show, video editing and audio along with other functions.

I got the software from NCH Software. Their website, I think, was the download. Pro edition. I paid for it. Their tech people have been giving me all sorts of advice, none of which have solved the basic problem.

I have confirmed I can properly save all 50 slides in sequence with transitions (no text or zooming). But audio comes through fine.

I have further confirmed to save whole 50-slide show with transition, text and audio. Movie runs fine.

I have also confirmed that I can save 5-6 frames in sequence with zooming, text and transition and audio (everything I want).

However, when I get to around 70% of saving process with the whole 50-slide show, it either crashes or saves only partially -- so the last portion of slides just don't show up.

I have tried uninstall and re-install -- no effect.

I used the free roxie photoshow to make a little movie, and it came out fine. However, it is held at the roxio website, so after 30 days it's gone -- unless I purchase more service from them. I would like to save the show to MY computer, so I can upload it to YouTube and hold it as long as I want at MY website. Will their software allow me to do that?

The photostage software does give me the movie-show on my computer or dvd as I choose. I like the control of that feature. Of course, if I can't save the project to actually make a movie-show, the software is useless.

1) No recommendations until you tell us about your computer. Re-read the post above about dxdiag. Reset your virtual memory to 1.5 times what you have for installed memory.

2) With the membership, you can download the program to your desktop. You can make ON YOUR COMPUTER or on the sharing site and output them to video files You can to upload to YouTube, the sharing site or to your web site. I do it all the time but unless you have a very fast business hosting site, links to videos on YouTube are much faster.

Example: Go here and click on one of the first couple of links to see how long it takes to download.. Now click on the Making a Title link.
