Support Should Read, No Support From Roxio And Corel

Zerocool

Question

Due to an obvious problem with the Roxio software, back on track, numerous users had problems with the boot manager getting compressed. HP informed users, including myself, to go to Roxio's site,

http://www.roxio.com/go/bootmgrfix

and download the "bootmgrfix" file.

HP support link also informs users to do this:

(Ref:http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c02510149 )

Well, I have tried almost a year to download the file but have continued getting the following message;

"Roxio Downloads

Download the Roxio Back On Track Repair Kit

The maximum allowable downloads for this update has been reached. This is a temporary restriction. Please check back in a few days."

Finally, My patience is worn out. I cannot access my files or anything on one of my computers. My business has suffered, I have lost alot due to the faulty software. Today, I once again contacted HP and was redirected to Roxio. I then contacted Roxio and I was told to contact Corel. I then contacted Corel and they referred me back to a Roxio page which redirects me back to Corel.

This is ridiculous!!!

I have recorded the online chat with your reps and all the email from your support in a computer screen recording software.

I have contacted support numerous times which went unanswered.

Does a person need to file a civil complaint in U.S. District Court, BBB Complaint, Ripoff Report Complaint, Post Viral Videos showing the chats, emails, and numerous problems faced when dealing with Corel/Roxio, Put up complaint sites, contact news sources just to simply get a link to download the simple file??

Hello,

I just went to the link you provided, logged in as directed by the board software, and the file is downloading as I type.

I don't know if I'm having success just because in my geographical location [south Pacific] I'm accessing a different server but it would be worth your trying the download again.

If you're still having no luck, send me a private message with the name of a file-sharing site you have access to [if there are any left] and I could upload the file there for you to get.

Regards,

Brendon

I just tried to download that file and I get the same message as the OP. I have never downloaded that file before and I have never even installed that program

Must be because you are "down-under" :) :)

Thanks Walt and CD. The confirms my suspicion.

I reported this to an Admin about a year ago, but it never got fixed. It's a pity I can't get a specific link to the server I got it from. That's 'distributed servers' for you.

If I can find a site to host the 150 MB of file, I'll zip FixCompressedBootmgr.exe up and upload it so anybody can get it since it's an official Roxio file.

Regards,

Brendon

Thanks very lots for that, CD. :)

Zerocool, there's your file. I hope it solves your problem.

Walt, yes BackOnTrack is a part of Creator, so it's still supported - well, for a little longer anyway.

You or anyone else who needs it, can grab a copy of that file from the page where CD has hosted it.

Best regards,

Brendon
