Question

hi all,

i received my game cap through the post this morning and been trying to get it working ever since.

i installed the software first, as that was going i wired it all up, no problem, then i plugged it into my computer and the problem jumped out and smacked me in the face.

my computer installed the RGC as a USB Input Device, so opened up the supplied software, didn't detect it. no source, signal, nothing.

so i opened up the device manager, and its under Human interface devices, tried uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling, tried force installing the drivers which i managed to get a hold of but nothing. even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, nothing.

phoned up tech support, got a indian boy that just about knew how to turn a computer on, no help there.

starting to think that i've wasted my money.

any ideas?

yeah, tried that just now and few times before, nothing.

Then you didn't do it right!

Open device manager and plugin and unplug the RGC USB device. Take note what changes in device manager what entries show up.

Once that is done you need to right click uninstall them when the USB device is plugged in. When that is done remove the USB device and reboot the PC. Now put the RGC disc in a drive and run repair when it's offered, when repair is done reboot the PC. Now open device manager and plugin the USB device, what shows in device manager now?

I can't watch over your shoulder!

i also tried uninstalling the driver

What does that mean?

I've let windows install generic drivers for the device, deleted them rebooted ran repair plugged in the device and fixed it several times.

I know it works if you follow what I told you.

A.Uninstall Game Capture according the following instructions:

1. Disable your startup applications using MSCONFIG. This will disable any unnecessary background or system tray applications from loading.

Go to the Start menu and type "msconfig" in the Search programs and files field and press the "Enter" key.

In the System Configuration window, select the Startup tab.

Click the Disable All button.

Then go to the Services tab.

Uncheck Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 12, RoxioDB12, and Roxio SAIB Service, and CinemaNow Service.

Click the Apply button, then click the OK button.

Click the Restart button.

To reverse this at the end of installation, go back into MSCONFIG and select Enable All and restart (that can be done once installation is complete).

Note: Some anti-virus/spyware programs may not be disabled using the steps listed above. You may need to check with your anti-virus/spyware vendor on how to temporarily disable them.

2. Remove all Roxio and sonic programmes through Control Panel.

Go to Start -> Control Panel

Under Programs, click Uninstall a program

3. For the step below you will need to show hidden files. This can be done by clicking Start -> My Computer then go up and click on Organize -> Folder and Search Options. Click on the View tab. Make sure show hidden folders is selected and click Apply.

Delete these folders from your hard drive. Not all folders may be present.

NOTE: When trying this step you may receive a message that a "file is in use". Simply drag that file to your desktop and it can be removed after restarting the computer. Also note that "Username" referred to below is the name you use when logging into Windows Vista.

Note: If you have never installed any Roxio software prior to this, you may not see some items to remove in this step.

C:\Program Data\Roxio

C:\Program Data\Sonic

C:\Program Files\Roxio

C:\Program Files\Roxio ...

C:\Program Files(x86)\Roxio - (x64 bit systems only)

C:\Program Files(x86)\Roxio ... - x64

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared

C:\Program Files\Common Files\PX Storage Engine

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Local\RoxioCentralFX

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\Roxio

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\Sonic Solutions

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\Roxio Log Files

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Local\Roxio (x86/x64)

Empty the recycle bin once the steps above are completed.
