Problems With New Creator 2012

got2getatan

Question

Hi, have just purchased creator 2012. Having had many unsuccessful years trying to sort out Magix pro I've chucked it into the bin. PC word. Recommended the creator 2012 for my needs, simple to use for basic video capture, editing and burning, no frills. Managed somehow to convert and burn two movies/videos with having to edit but now have hit a brick wall. All I seem to burn onto the disc is the intro menu, keeps telling me files missing or deleted, but they are on file. Using windows7 home edition and a reasonable HP desktop PC. I am doing /not doing something which is simple and I feel stupid. I I want to just transfer tapes from my mini DV camcorder, simple edit where I have left lense cap on etc.. and then burn to a DVD what should I be doing. H ave about 18 tapes/mini discs from two camcorders to transfer. Hope you can help and thanks anyway.

1) It sounds like you were able to capture your tape to your computer. Is that correct?

2) You are not sure about how to edit the video and would like help there. If you only want to cut out sections, watch this. (May be slow to load). Here are some other tutorials that may be helpful.

3) This is a good reference for going from your captured video to a DVD. (Work flow process).

Note: Edit Video Advanced is AKA Video Wave. DVD Builder is AKA Create DVD. (if the terminology is confusing)

Please come back and let us know if something is confusing or if you have more questions.

Thanks for that. Have had problems logging in. I'll try everything that you have suggested. Have managed to capture stuff from my mini camcorder onto the PC but it's the editing that I need to get my head around. Noticed that the two movies that manged to burn seem to freeze a bit half way through the viewing so I need to solve this. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction it's really bugging me at the moment. Cheers .

Try to work with small projects using RW-DVDs initially until you become familiar with the process.

Remember a standard 4.7GB DVD can only hold 60 minutes of video at the best quality (HQ) setting. If you project is longer then the video has to be compressed and you lose quality. Also, avoid using the "Fit-to-Disc" option if you project is over 60 minutes, it will give bad results and display problems like tou describe as well as menu/navigation problems.

Hi again, last bit of advice then I'll leave you alone. When I have followed the example in time line to delete small scene for example left the cap on camcorder for a couple of seconds, it tells me that the scene is too small to split and delete and most of the scenes that I want to remove are small .Any advice please.

This happens to a lot of people ! Make sure you have reselected the area you want to delete. If you don't you get that message.

Also if what you want to delete is less than 10 frames (about 1/3rd) of a second), use the trim tool rather than the split and delete method.
