Invalid Index Error

poohdewey54

Question

I started to use the software for the first time today. It opened nicely and I was able to view my video. I closed the program and went back in later. I am now getting the infamous message " program is shutting down" I am getting an invalid index error message. I have windows 7. I have tried repairing the software, uninstalled/reinstalled software and am still getting the same error message. Any suggestions?

Perhaps if you added some details on what you are doing exactly, someone might have some suggestions. I have no idea what you mean by "went back in later" for example.

I didn't know that was a "infamous" error ! :o Have you seen it before? Perhaps it is a problem with your Windows installation.

Please give us the rest of the error; there should be more detailing what index.

What anti-virus do you have and was it active when you installed the program?

The problem starts when I open the program. I have no anti-virus turned on at this time.

The message I am getting is:

A unknown error has occurred. The application will shutdown now,

Exception:

Invalid Index

When I select OK there is another message:

A problem caused program to stop working correctly. Windows will close program and notify you if a solution is available.

That is all there is, program won't open.

Is there any other information needed?

There are some index errors associated with burning a DVD but you are not anywhere near that part of the program. Do you have a blank good quality DVD in your DVD burner when you start the program? What DVD burner do you have? Index errors usually have some ID numbers associated with the error. Are you getting any other information?

Microsoft has over 13,000 help topics on "index error" ! See this

I did not ask if you had an anti-virus running when you tried to open the program. I asked if you had it running when you INSTALLED the program. Did you follow the installation instruction exactly as written? Especially those associated with installing the USB capture device?

Please post a screen shot of the pop-up you see telling you you have the index error. Please read this carefully !

That second message is a feel good message that Windows puts there just to make you feel good. I have never seen anyone getting a message from MS that the problem was fixed.

Additionally, since we are working in the dark

Let's try this as well:

Turn OFF any Anti Virus software as well as any Firewalls

Start to install the program only choose
Repair
when it is offered.

After it completes you can turn ON your AV & Firewalls then reboot.

This will make sure the Progam is not corrupted ;)

But we really, really need the information that Walt & Steve haver asked you for...
