Nikolay
I My experience with Toast 11 seems to be somewhat different than some other users, but here's something I tried that worked to improve burning speed: I use a lot of Verbatim +R DL, and their 2.4X discs will burn with some burners at up to 8X. After I updated Toast I was also getting very slow burn speeds. I went to the "Recorder" menu and selected "Recorder Settings" after inserting a blank disc. The burn speed menu offers speeds from 2X to 8X. I selected 8X and then went back to "Best." When I burned the disc it burned at 8X. All discs that I burned after that one continued to burn at the faster speed, too. I did the same thing with the Verbatim DVD+R 16x. I went to the "Recorder" menu and selected "Recorder Settings" after inserting a blank disc. The burn speed menu offers speeds from 2X to 16X. I selected 16X and pressed "OK". Then I went to the "Recorder" menu again and after that Toast crashes!!! Same thing, when I restart Toast over and over. I have downgraded Toast to 11.04. tsantee
Toast 11.1 crashes when I try to open recorder settings. I cannot select a higher recrding speed so burns are about 2X. I've been addressing this issue with Roxio for months with no progress. Clearly, 11.1 has problems. I'm running OSX 10.8.2. This is the first time I've read about someone having this happen. Does it matter whether or not you have a disc inserted? Does it happen regardless of whether it is a CD, DVD or Blu-ray? I'm presuming you've trashed the Toast plist and prefs files in your user>Library>Preferences folder. I'm very curious about why this is happening. What other information can you provide that might help is checking into this?

Nikolay
After today's quick re-upgrading Toast 11.1 (1071) to the (1072) the burning speed of DVD+R is normal at last!!! Toast 11.1 (1072) DVD+R burning time -- 2.4 min So I am happy and free from burning trouble at last. I had very long dispute with Roxio-Corel on low burning speed issue and they has taken into account my persistent criticism and regained the right to be called the best manufacturer of the fastest program for recording CDs and DVDs. Nikolay
Just for information my last tests: Toast 11.04 DVD+R burning time -- 3.7 min Toast 11.06 DVD+R burning time -- 2.4 min Toast 11.1 (1067) DVD+R burning time -- 13.5 min Toast 11.1 (1071) DVD+R burning time -- 12.1 min As the saying goes no commentary. In Russian this means SiBurRde (simulation of turbulent update activity).
tsantee
Same issue with 11.1 and OSX 10.8.1, burn speed restricted to 2x, BD or DVD. I've had good results by choosing the Recorder Settings in the Toast Recorder menu and manually setting a burn speed after the blank disc is recognized by Toast. Don't choose Best. Toast keeps defaulting to Best, however.

wok
My burning speed also is restricted to 4x... and that's after solving the problem of the stalled instal. A problem, maybe accept but multiple... still all is not lost. A new language has been created where upgrade has no relationship to common accepted usage. mrsaxde
I I did the same thing with the Verbatim DVD+R 16x. Interesting. It has worked for me every time I tried it. I do still have issues sometimes when trying to launch Toast, however. But burning seems to be just fine. rayn
I solved the problem of very slow burning speed by going back to Toast 11.06. It now takes 1/3 the time to burn a DVD. They must have a crazy team doing the upgrade to 11.1.

Nikolay
After updating Toast 11.04 to Toast 11.1 the burning speed for DVD slowdown to 4x maximum. Old problem have returned!!! Please look the topic a year ago: Toast 11 -Dog Slow- http://forums.suppor...st-11-dog-slow/ So it woulld be nice if Roxio Team restore the previous burning engine in the new version of Toast (v11.1). nukefixer
Not to mention the lack of support from Roxio! WOW! You would think an upgrade is an upgrade not a step backwards! Please resolve this issue ASAP this is not acceptable. One can't be taking 25 min to burn a simple 4.7 GB DVD -R.

Mark Goldschmidt
Same Thing happened to me. I'm going to revert to the older version as well. And after all the problems I had installing it, too. Is anybody at Roxio paying attention?
MusicAce
I too upgraded to 11.1 last night to find that my last two burns were at on 2x. I have found no solution other then to downgrade to 11.04. What an utter pain! I also have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 16 GB DDR3 RAM
MarcoSb
Same problem, hope that someone can help me. When I start burning with a standard Verbatim Dvd -R the burning time was 22 minutes (with software Burn at 2x is 10 minutes)... So I have to back to 11.06? I've Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Toast 11.1, thanks.
rayn
After updating Toast 11.0.6 to 11.1 I also had the burning speed for DVD disks dropped to 4x maximum. So I reverted to 11.0.6 and my burning speed doubled to tripled speed DVD burning. So I'll stay with the older version to have a reasonable burning speed for my 16x DVD burning righters.
