Tv Screen Randomly Blacks Out While Using The Roxio Game Capture

CsSingleton

Question

This is going to hard to explain but i'm going to try anyway. I am having an issue with the roxio where it randomly causes my tv picture to blackout and then re-appear. I was at first able to live with this as it doesn't affect my recording at all, but recently its been blacking out much more constantly (around every 1-5 seconds) and stays blacked out for around 5-10 seconds which is really annoying as i literally don't have any idea whats happening in my game. If i had epilepsy i would be dead.

The below file shows whats happening.

Its all set up correctly and im not too sure what you mean by good and solid conections but they are plugged in properly i can take a pjoto if you want

"Good and Solid" to me sez it all.... maybe I should have said "not loose". Over the years in this forum there have been many, many users who have had loose connections, bad cables etc, etc. Have you tried a known good Component cable?.

Also, please confirm that when you first started to use the Roxio capture card it worked ok.

Does it work ok when you go directly from your console to the TV?.

yeah from my console to TV its fine, and i'm not to sure if it worked perfectly when i first used it, I don't think it did, i've had it for about 9 months. But what i do know is that it very rarely happened (so i ignored it) and slowly got more and more frequent and now where i can't even use it anymore

i have been having this issue aswell with my Roxio. I just cleaned the plugs with some rubbing alcohol and Q-tips on the roxio and then even switch the usb plug i was using. seems to be working but you're problem could be the same thing but different cause of the error. just wanted to put my 2 cents in tho.

I've also had this problem (from day one) so I changed the console component cable (I have two) and then I changed the TV component cable; although the picture and latency improved with the new cable the problem still persisted. This thread is interesting because it looks like we can zero in on what is the problem. I just gave all my connections (especially the sockets on the TV which haven't been used until the purchase of the RGC) and the picture now looks even better so I hope that's fixed it. Being pleased with the improvement seen from the new cable I decided to get a slightly more expensive one just to get the optimal quality and hopefully erradicate any last sign of this problem.
