Update 11.1 Crashes Mountain Lion

Sombb

Question

Hi All,

With some trouble updating from Toast 11 Titanium 11.0.4 using updater 11.0.6, I was pleased to find updater 11.1 just today. The update went just as expected, and I thought all was well. It is NOT.

Each time I click "Burn" in Toast, the application crashes, having failed to recognize the new, unformatted CD-R in the CD drive. I've tried new Toast .disc files made with 11.1 and earlier .disc files made with 11.0.4, multiple unformatted CD-R's, Mac restarts, etc. etc.

The update 11.1 ain't ready yet for primetime.

I just completed burning an audio CD with Toast 11.1 without any problem. Yesterday I did this with OS 10.7.4 and today I updated to 10.8.1 to test it again. Both worked fine.

Something is wrong on your Mac. I suggest trashing the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast. That may take care of the problem. If not, try running the repair in Disk Utility or running Disk Warrior if you have it. You say the crash happens when Toast is trying to recognize the inserted blank disc. Is that correct?

Same here.

I am using Mountain Lion 10.8.1 and just updated Toast to the latest update. That worked.

Now, Toast immediately crashes right after starting it. It briefly shows a setup assistant. Apparently all config info is gone or so... Then after half a second of showing the setup assistant it crashes.

Same thing, when I restart Toast over and over.

There is certainly nothing specifically wrong with my Mac!

Have you tried trashing the Toast plist and prefs files and relaunching Toast? I've upgraded to OS 10.8.1 and still not having any trouble. Do you have any audio or video external devices connected to your Mac. If so, try disconnecting them before launching Toast the first time. Was Toast working for you prior to the 11.1 update?

Yes, having compatibility problems with Toast Updates and Mountain Lion. Have sent several emails to Roxio Tech support and they recommended I uninstalled the old version then download a new update installer 11.04.

Did this, but when I try to run the .DMG I get the message "can't be opened because it is an unidentified developer".

I have checked to see if my Security Preferences are causing this, but no luck.

Any ideas from anybody? I need to burn 400 DVD like right now!

I am having the same problem. I would like to try the below solution...but it do not understand what it means?

Hi Group,

Just found problem is with GateKeeper. You need right-click the install file and open from there. Pretty strange.

Googled install problems and found the link. Shame on Apple.

The Gatekeeper problem is about to be shared by people who are still on 10.7 Lion. The release notes for the 10.7.5 update say "The 10.7.5 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users ... [it] includes Gatekeeper, a new security feature that helps you keep your Mac safe from malicious software by giving you more control over what apps are installed on your Mac."

The suggestion is to control click on the installer. You also can open the Security panel in System Preferences, unlock the padlock and change the setting to install downloaded applications from "Anywhere."

I'm having the same problem, every time I try to burn it crashes and gives me this (just the first bit). Hoping someone can fix this, Toast was not cheap!

If you are burning an audio CD and have zero-second gaps set in Toast preferences then Toast will crash. Roxio's working on a fix for that but the workaround is to choose 2-second gaps in preferences and manually change tracks 2 and on to zero seconds. If this doesn't apply to you, are you burning an audio CD and, if so, what is the format of the source tracks?

There's a workaround for this issue: press ctrl when you double-click un the installer. Now you see a "Open" button and you can install it.

But Toast 11 won't work also on my fresh install of Mountain Lion. It crashes when I try to start it.
