Mydvd Not Responds When Burning A Project

Buzz849

Question

I have a project that runs about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

In MyDVD, I manually set the DVD length to LP, which then displays that I have about 17 minutes of free space.

When I attempt to burn it to DVD using MyDVD by pressing the Burn button, the project validates without error, then the screen showing the steps to be completed pops up..... then hangs up without showing any of the steps processsing or completing until the MyDVD program changes the title bar to show "Not Responding".

I let it run for 8-1/2 hours.

I am using a Dell Inspiron with 8GB RAM, Core I7 and Windows 7 Pro.

I have attempted to repair the program through the Uninstall Programs screen, withourt changing the outcome.

Thanks,

Why would you want squeeze a 2:15 hour video onto a DVD that can only hold 60 minutes of video at the best (HQ) quality setting. The final quality cannot be good at all.

Have you tried first burning to an image file or a folder set? That will test if the problem is with burning or with the rendering

Your both Right!

It should be able to do it with an LP setting...

And it should look like cr_p!

Anytime, you leave the HQ setting, the 'extra time' you get comes by reducing the Video Quality... (if the quality is not real good in the source, it will be even worse when reduced :( )

Two ways to go at this point.

Try the folder or ISO file as Walt suggests.

Could try fitting it onto a 8.5 DL disc ~ this assumes your burner can burn to them... You can use a higher quality setting but even this way you want to use Walt's suggestion rather than risk a disc ;)

There is a 3rd way by splitting the Project, but let's see how Walt's idea works first!

THANKS for your interest and suggestions.

I followed your suggestion of first burning to an image file or a folder set (each attempt independent from the other), but still received the Not Responding notfication on the Burn Project window.

Just on a hunch, I removed the chapters (they were set at 5 minute intervals), and pressed the Burn button and Ouila!, it burns, baby, burns,

Any thoughts about why it burns without chapters, but fails with chapters?

THANKS again for you help.

Too many chapters??? Are you creating a menu for all those chapters?
