Project Not Returning To Beginning Of Production?

Gig A.

Question

Also posted this on Disc Burning and Playback Issues but no reply after 24 hrs. which is very unusual from prior experiences with these forums. Did I not post this subject/problem in correct topics?

I am using Roxio Creator 2012. Have appx. 120 digital images sent to me to create a dvd.

I opened Creator 2012, selected create dvd, on select "the project type" box the came up selected 1st one, std. definition dvd. Next screen Roxio MyDVD-untitled (DVD),selected add new movie, nxt navigated to folder that had all the digital pics, selected to add all the pics (clicked on 1st-hold shift, clicked on last) then selected add on bottom right of the box. When Roxio myDVD-Untitled*(DVD) came up clicked once on the name of video on the right of the screen, selected edit movie on the top left., Then the pics appeared on the bottom Production Editor. Storyline-Production Length 00:12:34:88, added colored panels (right click), then the add text (A+) button top center..

Tried deleting/adding slisdes, changed picture length on entire production, looked on music/Fx1/Ov1/bc Text 1 tracks and there appears to be nothing in those tracks except where I inserted a few colored panels and added text, NOTHING added at the end. When I open it and selected the play button and at the end the production only returnes back 2 slides and NOT to the beginning of the productiuon, WHY?????

ANY help would be appreciated,

THANK YOU

George USA

Now I am not only learning little trick of the trade as far as Roxio Creator 2012 goes from the steps your asking me to do to solve my problem, I'm learning stuff like RW meanstt DVD-RW!<smirk>

Yes, now I do uderstand a littl more about play bak in the editor and how the production will play when burned.

and also using MyDVD Preview to see how it will bhave wth menus-sub-menus, etc.

I DO already burn a test copy and view/make neessary changes BEFORE I give out the final version.

Oh, by the way I LOVEpost-39730-0-68663100-1348398966.jpg the pic of you and the little guy your watching!!!!!!

Thanks AGAIN for all your help/patience/knowledge/willingness to help others and speedy replies.

On which panel was the blue cursor when you started the play? Did you start the play from the first panel? Control will always jump back to panel on which the cursor was located.

Walt: I started at the beginning. I opened a new VW Project, added 147 pictures and One Color Panel at the end. Then clicked the Beginning Arrow and hit Play.

I had never noticed that behavior but since it irrelevant while in the Editor it should go unnoticed

If I have a RW thy re perfect for testing, is that a dvd-rw? If so, that's what I have been using. ould have burned thru ALOT of dvd-r if not.

When I start my production the cursor is ALWYS at the beginning and no matter where the cursor is seems to just jump back those 2 slides?

If I burn a disk and play it on my tv, it goes back to the beginning of the production thou?

Yes I was referring to a DVD+RW or a DVD-RW, just using a little slang... My Bad ;)

Now you do understand that playback in the editor is only to see how it is going to Play, as far as appearance.

You have to use the MyDVD Preview to see how the Authored Production will appear and behave (menus, sub-menus, no menus, intros, etc.)

And if it is something I am going to distribute to friends and family, I always make a DVD RW or BD-RE and test it out on both a Regular (4:3) TV as well as Widescreen (16:9) ;)

Just had a chance to run it and in VideoWave it does bounce back 2 panels ~ my color panel and my last slide.

Of course this is irrelevant as it does not indicate that is the way it will behave upon actual output ;)

At least a better understanding (for me!) of what is going on

I have an appointment so it will be several hours before I can get back to this!

If anyone else wants to take a shot - go for it!!! :D:lol::D

Playback in VW should just stop at the end (teal panel?) and do Nothing Else

ONLY in MyDVD can you control what it does at the end of play and you can only have it jump to a Chapter, Menu or Movie...

No, when I play my production with Roxio MyDVD and hit the previewpost-21647-0-06572800-1348514757_thumb.jpg it plays ALL THE WAY thru BUT THEN only returns back 2 slides and not to the beginningpost-21647-0-66294500-1348515053_thumb.jpg

If I choose edit when in Roxio MyDVD it goes to the scrn shot I just showed you above.

If I play it with the Roxio MyDVD and preview if from there it previews wth post-21647-0-00804900-1348515636_thumb.jpg

I'm pretty sure one of those scrn caps gave you the timeline view you wanted and here is the storyline view post-21647-0-29480000-1348515874_thumb.jpg

Hope these scrn shots shed some light on my problem?

OK and when you utilize the MyDVD Preview function, it only shows 2 slides and then returns to the start... Is that correct?

But if you are in MyDVD and go to 'Edit Movie' it changes to "VideoWave". and if you Play it there, it plays through as you expected it to???

One of the things I wanted to see does show up in your screen cap and that is the Quality Setting and the Project space used/remaining, thanks! And it all looks good there ;)

Can we see a Screen cap while you are in the Editor portion of MyDVD (VideoWave)? Like to see one in Timeline view and another in Storyline view. And then point out the things that don't show up, use another cap or two is need be!

post-21647-0-57422700-1348442000_thumb.jpgAttn myguggi: What I meant when I made that statement was that YES, it DOES goes back to the beginning when I ran a Preview of the Project in MyDVD (and not just the 2 slides that it was doing viewing it thru Roxio MyDVD, then selecting edit movie

attn skinis: No,I did not try Edit Video -Advanced (Video Wave) , because I would have to

re-create my production, right?

attn Jim_Hardin: What do you want screen caps of????

I am still confused. What is the difference between "Preview of the Project in MyDVD" and "viewing it thru Roxio MyDVD"? The only way to preview the project is with the "Preview" button. What do you mean by "viewing it thru Roxio MyDVD"?

No, it DOSE NOTdo that (only return back 2 slides) when you run a Preview of the Project in MyDVD, it goes back to the beginning??????

Thanks, George

This statement doesn't make any sense. You say that it doesn't behave properly (goes back only 2 photos) but in the same statement you state it goes back to the beginning.

The "time" would indicate about 125 pictures, is that correct (close)???

Your description is pretty good, but if you could give us a screen cap or two, it would really help us spot something... Info on posting pics, HERE.

I agree with Steve as far as the process steps (VW then moving to MyDVD) but it should go OK the way you did it

Also, in MyDVD if you run the Preview of the Project, does it behave properly there???

Try using Edit Video-Advanced for your project.

Typically most people here use Create DVD for just that - to set the navigation and to burn the disc. Therefore to answer your questions, we would have to follw exactly what you did and it still would not be the same because we don't have your pictures and don't know what transitions you used, etc.

Please don't post twice on the same issue. Remember we are users and not tech support so it may take some time to get a reply.
