No Picture On My Tv Only Preview Window

Castadarkshadow

Question

I am trying to set up my Capture card through component cables and for some reason it is a hit or miss whether the TV gets the signal at all. The capture software always has the preview window with the xbox showing but not my tv. What is going on? How can this be fixed? Also when I tried using HDMI it was a letter box screen on my tv, Is there a way to make it widescreen like it should normally be? I would really appreciate some help on this!

First....does the Xbox work ok when you plug it directly into your TV (no Roxio capture card) ?.

Yeah it works fine with the component cables from the xbox to the tv. The picture will randomly start working when going through the capture card, my problem is that its not consistent what so ever. I have no idea when it will start working.

Borrow one!!!!!

Do you have the Xbox set to Component, and the switch on the connector set to HDTV.

the switch on the connector is set to HDTV, and xbox is set to component yeah. Everything worked before I had it recording for 3 hours but everytime i shut it off and back on 90% of the time no picture on my tv just the preview screen in the capture software on my computer. I'll see about borrowing a dvd player. Any other thoughts i could try?

Hold on here.......now we get new info "it was working" .

Sounds more like you have a bad/poor connection with your component cable.

Double check they are hooked up good and solid (not loose), interchange with another known good one, get a new one......

So after searching through the endless edges of the internet, I have finally stumbled upon this pretty much dead forum thread. Thinking that I would solve my problems and finally get this frustrating thing to work, it has nothing to offer me. Someone better find a solution to this because I need to make more videos for my channel.

Things you should know:

- Since I have a desktop, I use a fairly long HDMI cable just so the tv and xbox can reach the Roxio HD Pro.

- I'm having the exact same problems as these other people, only I am having problems with HDMI...

-These problems do not occur with my friends laptop, but when I use the longer hdmi cables.

-Whats going on with the xbox shows up on the preview screen but my TV screen has a blue screen saying "Not Support!" or whatever...

-My tv flickers from working to going back to blue screen so its not constant AT ALL.

*This is starting to *^$$ me off a lot so please help me if you can

THANKS YO.

<.< Ok so when I record with the longer HDMI cable my TV alternates from a blue screen to the game but on my computer in the preview window it shows whats going on in the game but it has like a 2-4 seconds lag. When my friend used a shorter HDMI cable with his laptop it works and there are no problems with the TV. Sorry for being unclear before I was kind of busy. Thanks :S

I figured out the issue, it has nothing to do with the cable itself. I was just having this issue. I have a 10 foot and a 15 foot cable that I was using, always worked but sometimes had issues with the display. You have to make sure that the computer recognizes the capture card. Like when you plug a new devise in the computer will update drivers or say ready to use. Once it says that you should have a display with no problems. I had to change mine to a different port for that to work.

best of luck.
