Controlling Text Effect

maxgremlin

Question

I am trying to find out how to control how long my text effect will last either when it's added to a production or saved as a seperate track to the clip.

What I have done is divide the clip into two and added text effect on a seperate track on the first clip so the the text will fade before the start of the second clip.

Is there an easier way to do this? Because now I a break in the audio between the two clips that sounds terrible.

Thanks

Perhaps this will help. Look at internal vs external track. If the clip is a video and you want to add a long text, you cannot stretch the video. You can speed up the text or use less.

If you want to use images, look at this (karri's)

Let us know if that solves your problem or you would like more help.

How do you want the text to appear? Once you have added text to the text track you can extend how long its visible by simply dragging the right end of the text "box" to the right.

I don't understand what you mean by "when it's added to a production or saved as a seperate track to the clip".

Perhaps explaining with a bit more info what you are trying to do might help to clarify things.

In General, all Transitions are applied OVER the video, that is they replace the video portion...

[hindsight] You normally allow 'extra' for that when shooting video to allow for that ;) You can alway delete excess but it is nearly impossible to add what isn't there... [/hindsight]

When you Add it pick Add to Production:

(it will insert at the scrubber location but you can move it)

You can adjust its' "length" either by dragging the right end or using the markers in the preview window:

There are some advantages in putting it on the Internal Track, but then it can only be a part of that particular clip and not spread into the next one...

Hope that helps some, if not fire away
