Photoshows Onto Dvd

MDA

Question

Hi, this is my first time using Roxio 2012. I have spent all day creating 2 photoshows as I had 445 pictures. I have made one photoshow of 199 pictures with music and then a 2nd photoshow of 246 and music. I have saved these two shows.......... however where I am now coming unstuck is how to put BOTH photoshows and music onto 1dvd. As soon as I highlite one show it starts playing and I am unable to then click on the 2nd show.

Is there anyone out there that can give me a clue on how to burn BOTH onto ONE dvd?

Thanks

What program from C2012 did you use to create the "photoshows"?

Define "saved these two shows"? In what format?

There are several ways to create "photoshow/slideshows" in C2012. The best way (in my opinion) is to use Videowave (Edit Video -advanced) since it gives the most control over your project. After creating the project they can easily be burned to a DVD.

Also how long in time is each project?

Hi there, I'll try to elaborate.

I opened Roxio Creator 2012. Went to photo's tab at the side. Clicked on create photoshow. Chose folder that pictures were in. It came up that there were too many pictures for photoshow so I put them into two folders named Act1 and Act 2 (It's my daughters theatrical group show that I was nominated to take pictures during dress rehearsal). The first photoshow is 15mins long (using soft and gentle theme) and second photoshow is 19 minutes long using the same theme.

When I had finished I just hit Save from top menu bar and it saved it as a photoshow extension file in "My Documents- My Photoshows" the only way this will open is through Roxio. Every time we press play, Windows Media comes up saying unable to play photoshow extension file.

Does this make sense to you?

We've tried burning it onto a disc and all it cannot be opened once burnt.

I am not running the version of Photoshow included with C2012 but the stand-alone version (which I believe has many more features and options).

When you "save" all you are saving is the project file which can only be opened by Photoshow. This project file is not the "real" slideshow and is not recognized by any other program nor can it be played by other programs. If you want to burn your show to a DVD you have to do it under the "Share" tab which has several ways of sharing you show.

You can only burn one show to a DVD, you cannot burn several to one DVD.

These limitations are why I do not use this program very often (only for the simplest shows). I prefer to use Videowave to create my slideshows since it offers so many more features and allows you you combine several slideshows onto one DVD.

Thank you Digital Guru.

I have tried sharing, by exporting and converting to a wmv file. This worked wonderfully well on ACT 1 but on converting ACT 2 I am getting the music and "blank or just a black" screen showing to the music.

Do you use the videowave on the Roxio Creator Pro 2012? When I opened that to add my own music or to tailor the music to my slideshow it said I needed to download something from apple. This then opened a video at apple that after 10 minutes was only 5% buffered (despite me having a superfast broadband) It was a black and white video of a man sitting cross legged with a tv! Do I need to download this and what does it actually do. When I bought Roxio Creator Pro 2012 I thought it came with EVERYTHING I would need to do this task..... it would seem not. Thanks for your help anyway. Mellonie

It seems you are using an Apple codec piece of music. What you need on your computer for that is the latest version of Quicktime. Try going here.

Any music you stored in Itunes will be an issue. Make a copy of the music somewhere else (if you can) and convert it to an mp3 file. Try that.

As for Creator is supposed to come with everything, look at the minimum requirements and it tells you some things are not include such as Quciktime (for some work) WMV and IE. You would not need Quicktime if you were only using non-Apple codecs for audio and video.

By the way, Walt is correct in that you can make a better slide show and have fewer restrictions with Edit Video-Advanced (Video Wave). Watch a couple of these video tutorials by karri.

Your process of converting the PhotoShow to a wmv file is also correct. Now use Create DVD to make a menu (or not) and to burn it to a DVD that will play on a normal DVD player.

For that suggestion, follow along with this. It may seem complicated but the steps are simple and logical. Scroll down to the section about making a DVD.

Many thanks to you all. I will definitely try again. I refuse to be defeated. We tried to rush through it this morning before my husband went to work this afternoon. I will watch the tutorials and then try again tomorrow. My music is saved on my computer in My Music folder but is all also saved to itunes by my daughter for her ipod, hence the confusion. I have the latest version of Quicktime but for some silly reason still asks me to download 7.4 or higher, I now click No when it asks me to download now and my music magically pops up LOL. I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again all

Mellonie

HELP still needed........I have tried sharing, by exporting and converting to a wmv file. This worked wonderfully well on ACT 1 but on converting ACT 2 I am getting the music and "blank or just a black" screen showing to the music. Even when converting it just shows a black screen instead of pictures! Why did this work on ACT 1 and yet by doing EXACTLY the same on ACT 2 I am just getting music NO pictures??????

Hi. There is no video footage. All the images are the same size, of same resolution etc. They were taken with the same camera at the same time, and were downloaded all together. The creation of the photoshow was in the same order, and method as the one that we have successfully converted/ exported/ shared. i.e The images and music were selected and included in the project the same way. The order of inclusion and conversion was also the same. We have tried creating the photoshow from scratch, and converting it to wvm the same way, but experienced the same problem. i.e the music converts, but the images dont. I accept your suggestion of using the video wave part of Roxio, but have struggled to import and fit the different music tracks to the different parts of the slideshow. Thanks. Trevor.

What happens if you try without music? With different music?

I have not gone back and read all the previous posts but does the Act 2 play correctly when you hit the Play button in PhotoShow?

We have been in touch with Roxio support. They suggested we try exporting/sharing the first photoshow again and see what happens..... YEP You Guessed it......... the first photoshow that exported/converted/shared perfectly the first time, has now gone the same way as the second photoshow!!! Audio with changes and NO PICTURES just the blank/black screen!!! I am really confused now. Do you think I should uninstall the programme (Roxio Creator 2012 Pro) and then reinstall it?

ACT 1 & 2 play perfectly through Roxio photoshow now neither will convert! No video included, all images are Jpeg of about 5mb size dpi of 180 x 180, taken at the same time on a Panasonic Lumix FZ38 and music is all the same tracks on both photoshows (Bugsy Malone) and these are all taken from the same source on my computer (my music folder, NOT through itunes) I have ample space on my c drive of 650GB+
