Hdmi Input To Hdmi Output To Hdmi->Dvi Cord For Pc Streaming

SkatecL5

Question

Hello, sorry if my topic title is confusing! Basically I am planning on using my roxio game capture hd pro to stream gameplay from my PC via an HDMI cord directly from my Graphics Card, into my Roxio HDMI Input. Then, until I get my second computer up and running, I want to run a HDMI to DVI cord from my roxio HDMI Out into my monitor. However the problem I am having is when I try this, the monitor that is receiving the signal from the HDMI out is receiving no signal at all. I know this isn't a problem with my hdmi to dvi cord, because when I get the roxio software open in my second monitor, there is no signal shown in the roxio software, even though the hdmi cord is running directly from my graphics cord into my Roxio. However, when I unplug my second monitor, plug in my monitor through dvi, and run an hdmi cord from my graphics card to the roxio, and in screen resolution settings I choose to duplicate the desktop on both outputs, it shows up! To summarize what I am trying to do, I am running my monitor 1 hdmi cable into the roxio, and outputting hdmi to dvi into my monitor. then the second monitor is just running dvi from my computer straight to my monitor, and the second monitor signal works. But my roxio software is saying No Signal when I do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tyler

I have an Xbox 360 and yes my monitor is connected to my video card.

Here Is a picture of the back of my monitor. The HDMI to DVI is the output coming from my Roxio. VGA is connected to Video Card.

Here is the Roxio. The output to my monitor, the input from my xbox, and USB connected to my rear IO.

Showing that the HDMI is truly hooked up to the back of my XBOX.

Oh sorry. I know whats wrong with the picture. The black one is plugged into the output. I took that picture when it was plugged into the input and I switched them to see if it would make a difference. But it still did not work. And also I know that the DVI converter works because I use it all the time to play XBOX directly. I plug my xbox directly to the converter and it works.

Well... it does work just fine, I have mine running with an HDMI to DVI-D adapter:

You need to check your HDMI - DVI-D adapter separately! Us a DVD Player or some other source for the HDMI to your Monitor...

BUT THEN ...something doesn't look right in your pictures???

You have a Black and a White HDMI cable attached to the GameCAP... But it looks like the Black one is attached, via converter, to your Monitor. Yet the Black one is plugged into the Input Side of the GameCAP

I have this exact same issue when I plug my HDMI to DVI cord into my monitor from the roxio. Also, when I start up my console, the monitor power button flashes; almost as if it recieving a signal of some description. The roxio is able to capture my footage in HDMI. My monitor works with the HDMI to DVI with my console itself; but the firmware or something like that on the roxio is making it so I cant see the game from my monitor. Aparrently my mate had a similar problem with his HD PVR. and he said he had to update its firmware/software to a older version, because the newer version was not working correctly..

Also, I have nothing else connected to the monitor. It's just the HDMI to DVI from the roxio.

Yeah I also have the same issue as everyone else in this topic. The Roxio GameCap clearly does not work with HDMI to DVI cables. I dont know why but it doesnt.

What console XBox or PS3?

Your monitor still has to be connected to your video card.

??? Instead of your HDMI-to-DVI setup, can you run an HDMI from the Pass Through to something like a TV or Monitor that accepts HDMI just to prove that it in not the HDMI-to-DVI cable?

It doesn't matter (for now) if your HDMI-to-DVI works elsewhere, we need to Prove that the HDMI output from the Pass Through is or is not working! Since it was designed to use HDMI, that is what we must test with ;)

Also, Display is pretty flexible, so your "Primary Monitor" may not actually be the Primary Monitor

Let's test that too! Right Click anywhere on one of your Desktop spaces and choose Screen Resolution:

This brings up the Display screen. Click on Identify and make absolutely sure the Monitor with Roxio running does not have the big '2' on it :D

One last thought... I have read that for Streaming to work, the Roxio must be at Full Screen (on Monitor 1)... Try that as well.

Ok, so I tried opening the Roxio program again, and whala, now I get a signal and I can see my left screen on the roxio preview window, but the hdmi to dvi cord is running from the roxio hdmi output to my monitor and my monitor keeps saying no signal. so the card is getting the signal, but my monitor isnt able to read this signal from the roxio or something.any thoughts? Im using a hdmi to dvi cord to send the output signal to my monitor because I don't have hdmi on my monitor

I should have mentioned that I have the USB cable plugged into the roxio running to a usb port on the back of my computer, but just thought that would be obvious. But yes I do have that plugged in, it's as if there is just no signal being sent through the hdmi cable to the roxio, which makes no sense because the roxio is labeled as "DEMO" something on my screen resolution settings, and that is what i am setting as my monitor 1 output.

Nowhere in there do you say where the USB cable is connected.

You can connect HDMI cables forever but if you don't have the USB cable plugged in the software nor Windows will ever see the device and you will always see No Signal.

All you're doing by plugging in HDMI is passing the signal through the device.

Whatever PC you plug that cable into Windows should recognize the device and the software will then have a signal.
