Jagged Lines In Dvds.

Michael Bos

Question

Toast 11 DVD results in vertical blocky/jagged lines, whereas iDVD burnt DVDs, no jagged lines. Both using the same .mov file. Blu-Ray disk burnt from the same file using Toast 11 is fine. What do I need to do to eliminate jagged vertical lines in DVDs burnt using Toast 11?

Please provide some specifications for the source video file. I'm guessing it is HD because of your reference to Blu-ray. There is a setting in Toast's custom encoder window where you can force the field dominance to be upper- or lower-field first. It may be that Toast's automatic setting is getting that wrong. You could test by selecting a small clip of your video and choosing Save as Disc Image. Then mount the disc image to view with DVD Player.
