Cannot Burn Photos, Only Music To Dvd On Photoshow 6

lizd

Question

I recently installed Photoshow 6 to my Roxio phowshow account. I tried to burn a dvd, but when played back, all I got was the music from my show. I've tried DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD +RW. I've installed Photoshow 6 on another computer, and the same thing happens. I don't have a problem copying photos or songs on a dvd outside of "Photoshow". Please somebody help! I got an event tomorrow that this slideshow needs to be at.

PhotoShow sometimes has issues with very large images (photos). Use whatever you have to resize them down to about 10 MB or less. What format are you using for both images and music files? Is any of the music from ITunes?

Download and re-install PhotoShow V6 over what you have now.

I hope you make it - Plan Ahead !

Hi lizd

I have also encountered the same problem as yourself and on experimenting with different transition backgrounds I have found that the DVD then burnt successfully :) no logic to it but it worked so the Roxio Photo Show software must have some problems at times. We vaguely recalled a similar problem happening a long time ago and changing the transition style helped then to.

I am having the same issue, wasting DVDs left and right that end up with only music. Please help!

I doubt that you are having the exact same problem as the other posters. Your computer is at least different Are you using extra large photos? Please tell us exactly how you are burning the PhotoShow to a disc. Try this -- output your PhotoShow to a mpg 2 file. You can then preview that. If it encodes and you can play it properly then we have narrowed it down to the burning process.

Are you burning less than the maximum speed? What brand discs are you using (hint store brands and Memorex are poor choices). How long is you PhotoShow (in minutes)?

Another Hint - get some RW discs that you can try and erase if there is a problem.

Come back after you have tried that.

So, I created a photo show and clicked the burn to disc at the end...I am not sure how large the photos are or how to tell. I got this because it was supposed to be somewhat easy, ha. It plays fine on FB, email, and in the show its self, just won't burn the photos to disc. You suggested outputting to mpg2, not sure what that means...I did burn less at the lowest speed, the show is 8 minutes, and I am using maxwell DVD+r 4.7 gb RW 2 hour discs and Imation cd-r 1-52 700 mb 80 minute disc. Thanks!

In the third step where you see burn to disc, there is an option to burn to a video file. There are a couple of choices; one of which is a mpg2 file. ALL standard definition DVD discs that play on a home dvd player play the mpg2 format (although they are named VOB on the disc.)

Having said that, if the PhotoShow plays well on FB, e-mail, etc and on YouTube, I have to believe that the PhotoShow is made correctly. The issue is now the burning phase. I'll get back to you shortly.

Do you have any programs that will author a DVD disc?

Download the trial of DVD Copy 6 from here. To see if you can author the DVD without an issue. I you still have a problem, then you may need to update the firmware for the burner on your computer. Sicne that program should work.

Don"t use the cd; many current DVD player swill not play that disc. You may want to get a couple of Verbatim DVD RW disc to play with. They are erasable but don't use them for long term storage.

Let us know.

Just to make sure, I burned a 8 minute long PhotoShow from my desktop version 6 of PhotoShow and I was able to burn the disc properly. If you put the disc in your optical drive and open it (not play it), you show see a folder. In the folder, there should be a bunch of files including one or more VOB file. They will probably be the largest files in that folder. Do you see that?

Note. Once the disc is loaded on your computer, right click on the optical drive and select to "open". That is where you will see the folder and files.

Yes. Are they in a folder? What are you trying to play the DVD with - your computer or a DVD player ..If computer, what program are you trying to use to play the video?

That trial should allow you to add the mpg2 video and burn the disc - author it. But if you have a DVD that has a folder and VOB files (among others) it should be playing.
