[Windows 8] Problem Installing Roxio Game Capture

Question

I was trying to install Roxio Game Capture software onto my Windows 8 Pro OS but I keep hitting error after error trying to sort it out.

I have tried the following:

Uninstall then re-installing the software

Repairing install with Roxio Game Capture setup.exe

Modifying install with Roxio Game Capture setup.exe

Repairing install with Roxio Game Capture.msi

Modifying install with Roxio Game Capture.msi

Downloading a replacement rsl.dll located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared\

I tried to find a replacement rcsl.dll on the internet but couldn't find it but it doesn't seem to be a problem now

None of this has help except replacing the rsl.dll which I was then able to register the software and boot to the main window.

If I try to run Capture then nothing happens!

This is the message I get when I try to run the Edit & Share but I get this error:

RoxioGameCaptureError.png

Can anyone help?

I installed it using Windows 8 default compatibility but I'm running the Software in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Not to do it that way, but how do I get it to work otherwise?

It is not working!

Why do you think you need to install it the way you did and run it the way you do?

System Requirements.HDPRO

Minimum System Requirements:

Microsoft Windows® 8, 7, Vista™ SP2, XP (SP3 for 32 bit & SP2 for 64

It's not the HDPRO it's ROXIO Game Capture SD and I brought it 4 months ago before the even released Windows 8 Consumer Preview let alone the RTM.

Yes but if I install with the normal settings then it get's 99% done then say's it was interrupted and undoes all the install.

That is another problem..

Support would need to look at your installation log files.

C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Roxio Log Files

Here is my installation logs: (there to big for the 5MB limit I have on my user account here so I've uploaded to Mediafire for you.)

Roxio Log Files.zip

I did get the Editor working in the end but it's only in Windows XP Mode.

Did you get the software installed?

Installing in any compatibility mode I already told you was the wrong thing to do! Post #10 above with pic's.

Your log file is so big because you tried to install several times and you zipped several different ones along with them all.

You need to call support or open a support ticket, here. http://corel.force.com/roxio?lang=en

I got it to install with Windows 8 only but I can only run the tools in XP Compatibility otherwise they don't work. The main window will show up but the tools don't load at all but in XP Compatibility the now both work fine.

I installed RGC HD Pro on a W-8 Pro X64 image and had no problem with the install or running the program.

I did not right click properties on the setup.exe and run it in any compatibility mode. That is not necessary for it to install and does cause installation problems.

Open the support ticket or call support you have other problems!

Have you tried putting the disc in a drive and installing the software?

Never plugin the USB Device before installing the software.
