Can This Be Installed Without A Disc Drive?

davidt77

Question

I have a laptop that has no way to play a disc so you can probably imagine my frustration when I realized there is nothing anywhere on the website or in the instruction manual that deals with this simple issue. I figured it would be something as simple as registering my product and downloading the software online as is usually the case with products such as these. Can anyone direct me to a place online to download the software I need to get started here? I tried just plugging the connection in to my USB port but it won't allow me to do anything because it says there is a "driver missing" so I'm assuming that means I must download the files off of the CD before I can use it.

I've attempted to use technical support but haven't yet received a response. Any help would be greatly appreciated... 60 bucks isn't cheap to me. Thanks.

What is the make/model of your laptop? Why would you buy a laptop without a CD drive?

BTW, products "such as these" cannot be downloads since they also come with a hardware device or do you know of a way to download hardware :) ?

Use cd suggestion and copy to a ThumbDrive (assuming your laptop has a USB port)

I got a thumb drive put everything on the thumb drive, installed the software successfully- which required me to update a crapload of windows stuff- I plugged in and the driver supposedly downloaded successfully, I followed the instructions carefully on the menu, and wa-la - Total system crash! This happened every time! So I dug around in the forums for other people with crash issues and ended up chasing my tail trying to filter through all the endless information about things my computer needs and doesn't need and updates I should use and updates I shouldn't use. Look it's pretty simple. In this day and age you can't put a product like this on the shelf and expect people to be happy with it. You don't even have a technical support telephone number. Instead you want me to try to figure out this complicated crap by communicating through email with what appears to be an Indian guy who doesn't even have a semi-decent handle on the english language. Or I can come in to this forum and you two guys acting like I'm a buffoon for not "thinking outside the box?" Well let me tell you- I'll be taking this box of second rate crap back to Best Buy to get my money back! And from now on I'll be thinking "outside the Roxio box" for good! Thanks for nothing!

You're welcome for nothing. You were given several options on how to install the program. Obviously you have a crappy computer if it does not even have a DVD drive. Why would anybody buy such a computer?:wacko:
