Quality Loss During Export

Nohons

Question

Hey folks, hoping for just a quick solution to my problem...

Roxio Game Capture HD Pro does not allow for live commentary during recordings. To combat this, I figured I would record my audio during recording and add it in afterwards. I recorded my video and everything turned out great. Quality was FANTASTIC and my audio wasn't that bad either. I opened up soundwave, edited it all together, and exported.

My problem comes in when I opened my raw capture vs edited with audio. The raw capture is noticeably better (text is clearer, a bit sharper, etc.). Its not something that youtubers would notice but it is a bit upsetting.

Is there anyway I can export the video without losing any quality? Or a simpler way to add my commentary to the file without losing video quality?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I think a different approach is what you are after ;)

Lets' try doing it within VideoWave (my version is a little different, it is from the NXT Suite)

Load your clip and click on Interna Tracks:

Then Add Background Audio to either the Music Track or the FX Track:

By placing it on the Internal Tracks of the clip, it will stay in sync if you edit the clip ;)

IF you know you will not edit, you could use one of the external tracks as well.

I see now why you don't have any time on your hands...

mts is NOT a lossless format which has no relevance to this in any case.

But if videowave exports to a loseless format, then wouldn't any editing done after that point not lower the image quality? or does lossless video compression not work the same way as with images?

We are talking about AUDIO here, I don't see continuing discussion on the irrelevant

He's talking about video quality, not audio, unless i'm entirely reading this wrong.

I'm assuming OP is doing the following:

Capture with device > adding audio to video and render

The video is getting compressed in step 2,

I''m suggesting that he render the video to a lossless video format, then add the audio and re render.

That said, I can't even find a truly lossless video format, or a format that's not compressed that most media players will play, or that roxio exports to (I don't care how large the file size is). Maybe i'm not looking in the right places.
