Recording Is Laggy. Choppy Footage When Rendered

pruitt21

Question

When I record with my game capture hd pro it becomes very laggy and even none responsive while capturing. I have changed the video quality many different times trying to get this fixed but nothing I seem to do is working. Also when rendering or even watching the raw footage it shows the lag along with screen flickering and frozen screen even tho the time is still going. I have also changed a lot of my rendering settings and even used other programs to render the videos other than the video wave that came with the recorder. I'm starting to think its just an issue with my computer. I have an older laptop. Don't know the specs for sure since I'm not at it right now but I'm pretty sure it has a single core processor, 2 gb of ram, and around 111 gb free memory on the hard drive. Could that be my problem or could it be my settings that I have changed or anything else that I can't think of. Thanks for any help.

Ok I can look that information up when I get home later. I was also thinking about buying a new desktop. Here's the link to the one I was looking at buying. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Inspiron+Desktop+-+4GB+Memory+-+500GB+Hard+Drive/5611438.p;jsessionid=144CCA1D36AE9B863C91CE05782B6E24.bbolsp-app04-29?id=1218672941009&skuId=5611438&st=Dell%20i660s&cp=1&lp=2

Would this be worth investing in and would it be better than my old laptop for running the programs and everything else that goes with the roxio software. I figure the more ram the better right??

Honestly I have never used the Index Number for comparisons before, so I really do not have any basis... (Anyone care to share their number along with results???)

Also you do have to consider what is holding it down??? For example my main PC is "5.9" but every thing is 7+ except HDD Transfer rate... Now that could result in it being so slow putting captured data on the HDD that it misses some of what is coming in. That can make 'jerky' results...

See what the bottleneck is in yours.

As far as the PC you linked, I really hate to make suggestions with other peoples money -_-If I were buying one, that one looks pretty good other than the small HDD (but I do hours of HD video at a time)

That has pretty much been my rating since I got my laptop out of the box. It was a cheaper laptop since I was in school and needed a computer for my online classes. But now I'm out of school and have a little bit of money to play with. Not a lot so that's why I was looking at that desktop. It's down there in the price range but it looked good to me.
