Not Recognizing Capture Usb. Mac Os 10.6.8 Update. All Connected.

apulliam1

Question

I recently purchased Roxio easy vhs to dvd for mac. I have loaded the software. Connected all component. Tried without and with the extension USB. When I go to open software it give me an error, "Please connect the Roxio Video Capture hardware to any USB 2.0 port." This is done. I have restarted the computer. I have run all updates. I have run disk utility. Still get the message. I believe, this brand new (purchased yesterday) $80 piece of equipment is faulty or in truth is just not good equipment. Everything I have ever used by Roxio was good but this is just not happening for me. Please advise. I did sent a request to Roxio Support about 14 hours ago but I have not heard back. Of course, it is a weekend.

Digital Guru, I was connected to the USB port on my laptop.....not a hub. I have deleted and reinstalled the program. I have tried everything I know. The tech with Roxio that has been emailing keeps giving me IBM directions. I don't think he knows a thing about mac. I have decided that either I have a defective device or the whole mac version is no good. Has anyone been successful using the software/device with Mac OS 10.6.8?

Yes. However, mine arrived with a defective A-V connecting cable so it wouldn't see the video. Fortunately my EyeTV Hybrid had a similar cable that worked. But the USB device has worked fine with several OS versions. My best guess is yours is defective.

It really is a surprisingly good product at its price when you choose the Medium recording quality. I have one from BlackMagic that is better but more than twice the cost. ElGato has one that is more expensive, as well.

I purchased my "VHS to DVD" for mac and it worked for about two weeks. Now its not recognizing the audio input. Tells me it can't find the audio and to either "quit" or proceed without audio. Think I'll just take the device back and look for another product..... the device gets very hot too.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? I've had this device for 2 years and it has worked fine on this same laptop and now I am suddenly getting the message "Please connect the Roxio Video Capture hardware to any USB 2.0 port" when it is in fact connected with all the same cables I have been using all along! What is up with this? Very disappointed.

I can't tell from your post if you've tried inserting the USB device after launching the application. That often works for others.

When you re-installed, was the Roxio USB plugged in when you installed the software. If Yes, try installing the software and THEN plug the USB in. This was already mentioned in post #2 and 7, maybe you missed that.

please connect your Easy VHS to DVD Capture hardware to any USB 2.0 port

tried all the ports on two different Macs.

I do not believe Roxio tested this product, Macbook Air OSX V10.6.8 and MacBook Pro OSX V10.6.8

tried plugging in hot with video feed rolling, as well as starting up after

No change on any symptoms.

No help from the forums.

My only option now is to return it for a competitors product - Darn, I really wanted to use this today.

The one I got had a defective cable so it didn't work, either. Fortunately, the cable from my EyeTV device was basically the same and I'm using it instead. So it could be you got a defective unit so exchanging it for another may resolve the problem. It is working for me on my MB Pro running OS 10.8.3.
